Do you want to be born again? Again and again, do you want to be born as a baby and go through the process of learning how to do everything? Every time you are born, you will have to go to school and learn the same things over again. In every lifetime, everything is repeated. Indeed, the reason we are easily bored is that we have experienced all this before.

Every time we return to this world, we must deal with countless problems and difficulties. Is it worth coming back here? Is it something you want to do again? Due to our ignorance we do not realise that every moment, with each thought, word and action, we are preparing for our next life. Be careful! Are you consciously preparing for the future or not?

Since it may take eight years to form a habit, if you want to be spiritual , you must begin to cultivate the right habits now. All of your life you have been restless for things of the world. You sit to meditate and you become restless. Then you say, "There is no use in meditating." But that is foolish reasoning. You have to live those eight years anyway, so why not use that time to perfect your practice of meditation? The more concentration you put into it, the sooner you will develop that habit. Your mind will then be saturated with the habit of silence. And when that habit is formed, you will feel restless, not for the world, but for God.

Peace of mind comes in two ways. One way is when life is simple, then mind is less disturbed. Another way is when mind knows a lot but still knows how to stay calm. We can have a calm mind with short breath.
I quickly added a silly question, " Gurudev, how do you achieve this calm mind?"
He smiled and said ,"Analyze all your problems. If it is possible to eliminate your problems, then no need to worry because there is a solution. And if there is no solution, then also no need to worry, because you can't do anything about it. It is always useful to compare pain to some even bigger pain. And when you do that you will right away get the feeling, ' Oh, this pain is actually not too bad compared to that one.' So you immediately feel better; calmness will come instantly. "

Can we lay sole claim to the knowledge that we have ? In modern times, we make this kind of claim. We have acquired knowledge to be a good mother, a good spouse, a good writer, a good speaker, a good doctor, a good nurse, a good cook, or anything that we do. If we are good at cooking, does this knowledge belongs to us alone ! Can we deny that we benefited from the advice of others ! This knowledge is not ours; it is a gift from many. It is not a single person’s knowledge or experience; it is the collective experience and knowledge of many. During daily life, instead of saying,”I am telling you to do this,” expand your heart and mind and say, “Let us go and do this,” or “We have done that.” The use of “ I” implies selfishness, and “we” indicates togetherness, love, unity and amity. When we go from “I” to “ we,” it is an attitude of inner or spiritual transformation.

After doing several Kriya bows and with attention at the top, in the fontanel, and with sincere prayer, you will feel that you have no body, only that something is moving. If you remain in this formless state, all troubles, diseases, and frustrations will disappear. You are watching in the soul center. The soul center is the center of emptiness. You are not bowing; the power of God is bowing in you. As the mother protects the child, similarly God is willing to protect you to give you peace and all-round development.

Everything depends upon your practice. If you can attain the pulseless stage, you will be free from everything. Na rupam- no form. Na-rekha- no sign, no signal. No metals, no gold, diamonds or silver. Nadabindu kalatitam. If you can perceive that you are the formless power of God, you will automatically experience bliss. Nothing can enter inside. A car parked near the ashram gate with the brakes on will not move. Similarly, if you concentrate on the atom point, your brakes will be on- your body will be burned. You will feel that you have no bones, flesh, skin or marrows. You are formless. You are in the soul-Atma. Bahirantascha bhutanam acharam charam eva cha: He remains inside and outside. If He does not breathe from outside, you will die. He abides within, yet at the same time, He is all-pervading. You are not watching your breath. Watch your breath. Seek Him through your breath.

Very few people realize that rather than one body, we actually have three. These are the gross body, to which we are so inordinately attached; the astral body; which can be defined as a person’s mental makeup or personality; and the causal body, which is comprised of our ignorance and knowledge. The gross body changes constantly and, whether we want to face it or not, is perishable. Changes occur every day, with old cells dying and new cells forming continuously. What does not change is the formless aspect, that which constitute the self. Ask a person his name. Irrespective of what stage of life he may be in- child, adult, or an elderly person- the answer will be the same. The body changes, the child becomes a youth, and the youth becomes old, but the “I” remains the same. There is a changeless and changing aspect of life.
