How Smartphone Posture Contributes to Spondylosis
- Forward head posture: Constantly bending the neck down to look at a phone increases stress on the cervical spine. This posture is often called “text neck.”
- Increased spinal load: Tilting the head forward by 15–30 degrees can add significant extra weight on the cervical vertebrae, accelerating wear and tear.
- Muscle imbalance: Prolonged smartphone use can weaken deep neck stabilizers while overstraining superficial muscles, leading to chronic stiffness and pain.
- Degenerative changes: Over time, these stresses may contribute to cervical spondylosis — a degenerative condition involving discs, vertebrae, and joints in the neck.

Preventive Measures
- Hold the phone at eye level instead of bending the neck.
- Take frequent breaks and stretch the neck and shoulders.
- Strengthen neck and upper back muscles to support proper posture.
- Use ergonomic setups when possible (e.g., stands or larger screens).

Side effects of medicines for hyperacidity
⚠️ Potential Long-Term or Serious Risks
Prolonged use or high doses of PPIs may increase the risk of:
- Vitamin B12 deficiency: Reduced stomach acid can impair absorption.
- Magnesium deficiency: Can lead to muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, or seizures.
- Calcium malabsorption: May increase the risk of bone fractures, especially in the hip, wrist, or spine.
- Kidney disease: Long-term use has been linked to chronic kidney disease and acute interstitial nephritis.
- Infections: Higher risk of gastrointestinal infections like Clostridium difficile and pneumonia due to reduced stomach acid.
- Dementia (possible link): Some studies suggest a potential association, though evidence is not conclusive.
