CRANE SAFETY DEVICES – KNOW THEM, CHECK THEM, USE THEM!

Cranes are powerful machines, but their safe operation depends on properly functioning safety devices and competent operation.

Load Moment Indicator (LMI)– Monitors load, radius and operating parameters to help prevent overloading.

Overload Protection Device Helps identify or prevent overload conditions.

Limit Switches– Prevent excessive movement or over-travel of crane components.

Hoist Brake – Helps hold and control suspended loads safely.

Emergency Stop – Provides a rapid means of stopping crane movement during an emergency.

Anti-Two-Block Device– Helps prevent the load block or overhaul ball from contacting the boom tip.

Slew Limiter– Restricts crane rotation where operating-area limits are required.

Wind Speed Indicator & Alarm – Warns the operator when wind conditions may affect safe lifting.

Height & Radius Limiter– Helps keep the crane within defined operating limits.

Boom Angle Indicator– Displays boom angle and helps the operator work within the crane's rated parameters.

REMEMBER:
Never bypass or disable a crane safety device to complete a lift.

Before lifting:

Knowing how to use a fire extinguisher correctly can make the difference between controlling a small fire and allowing it to become a major emergency.

In this video, learn the **PASS technique** — the simple method to remember how to operate a fire extinguisher:

🔥 **P – Pull** the safety pin to activate the extinguisher.
🔥 **A – Aim** the nozzle at the **base of the fire** (not the flames).
🔥 **S – Squeeze** the handle to release the extinguishing agent.
