Sharing some DIY HACKS to whiten and brighten your teeth in the comfort of your home, this post is aimed at sharing some economical tips for teeth whitening for people with good to excellent oral hygiene who wish to bring a tad bit of difference to the lustre and shine of their teeth.
Staining is usually caused due to excess consumption of sugary products, wine, coffee, sodas and plaque buildup due to improper brushing technique.Though as dentists we stress upon regular teeth cleaning procedures and check ups every 3 to 4 months for better assesment of teeth issues, some useful tips I'm suggesting here can add to improving your dental care tremendously.
🎈Brushing with 1% solution of hydrogen peroxide for 6 weeks
🎈Brushing with fresh solution of baking soda
🎈Brushing with a mix of crushed strawberries and baking soda
🎈Oil pulling with coconut oil once a day
🎈Brushing with paste of pineapple extracts, bromelain is a teeth whitening enzyme
🎈Consuming fresh fruits and veggies which reduce the yellow buildup around teeth margins
The above tips are super useful and effective if practiced regularly, which reduces the usage of chemical based products from our dental care regimes.
If you found this useful, comment below and let us know.

Happy Monday everyone !!
Kickstarting a brand new week by discussing the most popular yet neglected topic amongst my patients..Dental flossing !!
Why I cant stop stressing on the fact that as much as brushing twice a day is important, flossing your teeth is an even more important extension of keeping your teeth, gums and the underlying bony support healthy , it is probably the most neglected part of everyone's dental hygiene practice, also the only reason why majority of complex dental procedures involving root canal treatments, pulp capping procedures and dental aesthetic fillings are needed due to improper cleaning between the spaces.
Flossing is so much easier now, as a variety of new floss sticks and reels are flooding the market, they are customer friendly, easy to use and can be re used until discarded to be recycled.

Oral Hygiene alert !!
As much as its mandatory to follow the cliche old school routine of brushing one's teeth twice a day with fluoridated tooth paste, it's also essential to get a dental check up done every 6 months to access the condition of the teeth and gum tissue,
The food we consume forms a thin layer of plaque on our teeth over a period of 24 hours and provides a breeding ground for oral bacteria to multiply, which in turn is responsible for swelling and bleeding from the gum tissue, prolonged periods of neglected oral hygiene causes the bacteria to invade deeper beyond the gums and pe*****te the bone and cause the plaque like deposits to harden over time as seen the picture above, this leads to the development of a dental condition called pyorrhea/periodontitis ,a serious debilitating condition that's causes loss of teeth and difficulty in chewing food at later stages. Check in with your dentist and make your appointment.

SMILE WITH OUR SPECIALLY CRAFTED TEETH WHITENING KITS !!Tooth whitening lightens teeth and helps to remove stains and discoloration. Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures because it can greatly improve how your teeth look. Most dentists perform tooth whitening.
Whitening is not a one-time procedure. It will need to be repeated from time to time if you want to maintain the brighter color.
The outer layer of a tooth is called the enamel. The color of natural teeth is created by the reflection and scattering of light off the enamel, combined with the color of the dentin. There are two main types of whitening procedures. Vital whitening is performed on teeth that have live nerves. Non-vital whitening is done on a tooth that has had root-canal treatment and no longer has a live nerve. For whitening at home, your dentist can make trays to hold the whitening gel that fit your teeth precisely. Home whitening gel usually needs to be applied daily for two to three weeks. Over-the-counter kits also are widely available for home use. They provide trays to hold the gel, or whitening strips that stick to your teeth.Talk to your dentist if you want to use these home products. Be sure to follow directions to avoid overuse and possible damage to your teeth and mouth.in office whitening is similar to home process, taking upto 45 mins in a single sitting. For more information call us at shri sai dental care ,we will be happy to help you choose the best.

Dental Veneers
The right veneers are a quick way to a beautiful smile, and this treatment is perfect for people with teeth that are stained, chipped or have gaps. But veneers are an irreversible treatment, so having them placed is a big decision. Before you and your dentist decide the procedure is right for you, it's important to have the right information about veneers, Why are Veneers Used in Dentistry?
Veneers are a less intrusive option than crowns or braces. According to the British Dental Health Foundation, veneers can be used to close gaps or correct small misalignments. Patients also choose veneers as a comestic solution to enhance the brightness of their teeth and to straighten their smile, correcting issues like discoloration, fractures, or chips
Porcelain Veneers
The most commonly used material for veneers are the conventional porcelain veneer and Lumineers and composite resin veneers. AACD, porcelain veneers are preferable for correcting issues of shape or color and can last anywhere from 10 to 20 years.
What are Veneers?
According to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), a veneer is a "thin piece of porcelain used to re-create the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel." They are custom made to the contour of your teeth and are bonded to the tooth's original enamel during a series of in-office procedures.
Placing Veneers
The typical process takes one to two appointments. If the veneer is prefabricated it usually takes one appointment and if the laboratory is creating the veneer it takes two appointments. We will focus on highlighting placement of the porcelain veneer created by the laboratory:
Local anesthetia is not usually required when placing veneers. However, depending on the patient's sensitivity, it can be used if needed. The dentist will clean the tooth and determine the correct shade for the veneer. The dentist will remove a very small amount of the enamel of the tooth to provide room to place the veneer on the tooth.
An impression of the tooth will be made for the laboratory and a temporary veneer will be placed on the tooth with spot etching in the center of the tooth away from the margins.
After the laboratory has delivered the porcelain veneer to your dentist, the temporary veneer is removed, the tooth is cleaned with pumice and water. The veneer is then etched, rinsed throughly with water and air dried. The adhesive is placed on the preparation and then the cement and the veneer is placed for exact fit and contour.
The veneer is then light cured for 60 seconds on all surfaces of it to attach it to the tooth structure.
Your dentist will remove any excess material and polish the margins of the veneer.
Many dentists will schedule a follow-up visit to check for comfort; a comfortable veneer will be a long-lasting veneer
Care for Veneers
The AACD suggests brushing and flossing just as you would your regular teeth. Proper daily brushing, and use of non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. Consider limiting coffee and other stain-inducing foods.
Keep in mind that veneers will need to be replaced at some point, no matter how well you take care of them. But proper oral hygiene will help them last as long as possible.
If you're deciding on veneers, consult with your dentist and be sure you understand every part of the process and cost. A beautiful smile feels great and can increase both your confidence and well-being.

TOOTH SENSITIVITY ALERT !!
Tooth sensitivity is a common name for dentin hypersensitivity or root sensitivity. If hot, cold, sweet or very acidic foods and drinks, or breathing in cold air, makes your teeth or a tooth sensitive or painful then you have sensitive teeth.
Tooth sensitivity is very common and it has been estimated that approximately half the population experiences tooth sensitivity. Tooth sensitivity can come and go over time.
Tooth sensitivity is usually caused by dentin on root areas exposed due to receded gums or periodontal disease. Receded gums are very common and up to four fifths of people have gum recession by the time they are 65.

Overzealous brushing or using a very abrasive toothpaste can also cause abrasion of the tooth’s enamel surface and expose dentin. A very acidic diet – for example a diet with a lot of citrus food, pickles or soda— can cause tooth erosion and dissolve the tooth surface, exposing the dentin. Bulimia and GERD can also result in dental erosion and sensitivity due to acid in the mouth.
You can reduce your chances of getting tooth sensitivity by keeping your mouth as healthy as possible with good oral hygiene to help prevent receding gums and periodontal disease. Brushing and flossing properly as recommended by your dentist and using a low abrasion toothpaste can help reduce the chance that you will have tooth sensitivity. A diet that is not acidic also helps prevent tooth sensitivity.

Regular use of dental floss removes plaque, helping to prevent the buildup of plaque, which can lead to tartar. Simply flossing your teeth can make them look brighter by removing plaque and excess food particles that you may not see in the mirror or in areas that your toothbrush doesn't reach. When you don't floss, you're at risk for two major dental issues in your mouth: Gingivitis, and cavities between your teeth. Without flossing, you are not able to remove dental plaque buildup.there are over 1,000 bacteria in dental plaque. These bacteria can irritate the gum tissue, causing it to become red and inflamed and bleed easily, which breeds more bacteria and causes gingivitis to occur.Another risk of not flossing is that cavities are more likely to form between your teeth. The same dental plaque that causes gingivitis can lead to the growth of harmful bacteria that will destroy the enamel between your teeth, consequently forming a cavity. You should floss at least once a day, the best time being right before you go to bed to remove any food and plaque from between the teeth and along the gumline. Flossing should be done with waxed floss, as it won't shred between the teeth.Use a soft-bristle toothbrush at least twice daily with an antimicrobial toothpaste to remove plaque, reduce gingivitis, prevent cavities and provide your mouth with an overall clean healthy feeling.
