One-Day Menstrual Leave for Everyone 🌸

Menstruation is a natural biological process, not a weakness or a reason for embarrassment.

A one-day menstrual leave can give women the flexibility to manage pain, fatigue and discomfort with dignity.
It is a small step towards a more compassionate, inclusive and supportive workplace—where health is respected and productivity is built on well-being.

*HPV (Human Papillomavirus)

HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is a very common virus that infects the skin and mucous membranes. More than 80% of sexually active people acquire HPV at some point in their lives. In most cases, the infection clears spontaneously within 1–2 years.

*Types:

Low-risk HPV: Types 6 and 11 cause about 90% of ge***al warts.

High-risk HPV: Types 16 and 18 are responsible for around 70% of cervical cancers. Other high-risk types include 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.

*How HPV spreads:

Vaginal, a**l, or oral sexual contact
Skin-to-skin ge***al contact
Rarely, from mother to baby during childbirth

Processed foods are foods that have been altered from their natural state by adding preservatives, sugar, salt, unhealthy fats, artificial flavors, or colors to improve taste and shelf life. Examples include packaged snacks, instant noodles, sugary drinks, processed meats, and ready-to-eat meals. Regular consumption is associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and fatty liver disease.

Refined oils are vegetable oils that undergo extensive processing, including bleaching, deodorizing, and high-temperature refining. Common examples are refined sunflower, soybean, corn, and palm oils. While refining removes impurities, it also reduces some natural antioxidants and vitamins.

Excessive intake of refined oils, especially through deep-fried and ultra-processed foods, may contribute to inflammation and adverse metabolic health. Using oils in moderation, avoiding repeated heating, and choosing minimally processed oils (such as cold-pressed mustard, groundnut, sesame, or extra virgin olive oil where appropriate) can be a healthier approach.

Key message:
A diet centered on fresh, minimally processed foods, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and moderate amounts of healthy oils is associated with better long-term health than one high in processed foods and repeatedly heated refined oils.

Nutrients Often Beneficial in PCOS

Discuss supplementation with a physician if needed:
*Vitamin D
*Vitamin B12 (especially if taking Metformin)
*Omega-3 fatty acids
*Inositol (myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol)
*Magnesium

Weight Management
Even a 5–10% reduction in body weight (if overweight) can improve:
*Menstrual regularity
*Ovulation
*Fertility
*Insulin resistance
*Androgen-related symptoms (acne, excess hair growth)

Exercise
Aim for:
*150–300 minutes/week of moderate activity
*Strength training 2–3 times weekly
*Regular walking after meals

For Indian women with PCOS, a high-protein, high-fiber, low-refined-carbohydrate diet combined with regular exercise is generally the most effective nutritional approach.
