A short trip to Jaipur to explore — the fourth robotic platform in my journey.

From the legacy of da Vinci, the attempt of Hugo RAS, the dare of indigenous MERRIL, and now the well-marketed SSI Mantra — robotic surgery continues to evolve.

All the best to Dr. Saurabh, already doing wonderful work and taking robotic surgery forward in Jaipur. 🤖

One thing I’ve realised along the way:

The robot changes. The surgeon doesn’t.

The technology evolves, but the principles of surgery, anatomy, judgement and patient-first care remain the same.

Experience has taught me one simple truth:

Robotic surgery is not a trend—it is an advantage, but only in the right hands and for the right patient.

Technology should support surgical judgment, not replace it.

The robot is excellent, but it is not for everyone. The real skill lies in knowing when to use it.

Happy to share that I was invited to the prestigious Vattikuti Foundation Medicine Summit for Surgical Innovation in Miami, USA. The summit brought together a diverse group of participants, ranging from MBBS students to stalwarts in surgery, along with experts from the technology sector.

I had the opportunity to moderate a session on innovation in urological reconstruction and also presented my experience with robotic ureteric reconstruction. It was truly enriching to learn about the latest advancements and the evolving role of technology in healthcare.
And an opportunity to share the time with the big guys of urology …

The last week of January 2026 — a week of venturing into innovation.

From performing the first tele-robotic surgery of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, controlling the entire procedure from Vapi while the patient was in Delhi — 1200 km apart,
to sharing insights from my journey across three robotic surgical platforms at the national conference of the Urological Society of India in Indore,
and finally, discussing my ever-evolving experience in kidney transplantation at the India Habitat Centre, Delhi.

Innovation, experience, learning, and teaching — all in one week.
This is what I call a perfect week for a surgeon.

Happy to share that our pioneering work on Robotic Partial Nephrectomy using the HUGO™ RAS system has been recognized at the highest level.
Our article “Factors influencing trifecta outcomes following robot-assisted partial nephrectomy for stage I renal cell carcinoma using the Hugo™ RAS system: a prospective observational study and comparison with contemporary literature”
has been accepted to get published in the Journal of Robotic Surgery — a journal of significant impact and global repute in the field of robotic surgery.
