Honoured to be part of SPAG Dialogue’s Beyond the Beam – The Evolving Role of Radiotherapy in Cancer Care, alongside Dr. Charu Garg and moderated by Malti Sachdev.

As radiation oncologists, we see every day how precision technology is transforming outcomes—but innovation alone isn’t enough. Timely access, clinical expertise, and stronger collaboration across the healthcare ecosystem are equally critical to ensuring every patient benefits.

Grateful to SPAG and Siemens Healthineers (Varian India) for convening this timely discussion and amplifying the voice of radiotherapy in India’s cancer-care journey.

The beam may be invisible, but its impact on patients’ lives is profoundly visible. Let’s continue to work together to make that impact accessible to all.

Honoured to have been part of ISOCON 2026, the Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Oncology, held on 8th–9th August 2026 in Faridabad.

I had the privilege of moderating a scientific session on laryngeal HPV-positive cancers,where we explored evolving evidence and discussed what we can change in practice—from risk stratification and de-escalation strategies to integrating molecular markers into routine care.Its a bridge to far as the evidence is not prospective and robust as the oropharyngeal malignancies.

I also participated as a panelist in a case-based session on salivary gland cancers, moderated with great dynamism by Dr Pooja Nandwani. The discussions reinforced the importance of multidisciplinary decision-making and personalized treatment pathways.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr Sumant Gupta and Dr Samir Batham for inviting me and making me part of this enriching conference.

Grateful to the entire ISOCON team, faculty, and delegates for the vibrant academic exchange and collaborative spirit that defines our oncology community.

Continuing the celebrations, It was a delightful moment for me as the inaugural ceremony of best of ASTRO also marked book release of my book titled Radiation Therapy for Benign Diseases.
For the ceremonial inauguration our Cluster Head – North Dr Ajay Kohli welcomed the august gathering and highlighted the NH Oncology Collegium’s commitment to advancing cancer care and nurturing academic excellence.

We were honoured to have Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), as our Chief Guest. As the first woman officer to hold the tri-service appointment of DGAFMS—and the highest-ranking woman officer in the history of the Indian Armed Forces—her presence added immense prestige and significance to the occasion.
It was a privilege to share the stage with stalwarts and mentors of oncology: the “teacher of teachers,” Dr G. K. Rath, Dr S. Hukku, and the President of DCF, Dr Suvarsha Khanna.
Words of encouragement from our Chairman, Dr Devi Shetty, and our Group CEO, Dr Rupert, inspired us to keep the academic flame burning brightly.
The participation of several contributing authors made the launch even more meaningful and memorable. Their expertise, dedication, and collaborative efforts have greatly enriched this important work in the field of radiation therapy for benign diseases.
A proud moment celebrating academic collaboration, knowledge sharing, and our shared commitment to advancing patient care.
This book highlights the importance of radiation beyond Oncology. With 31 devoted chapters capturing the ethical considerations,indications and techniques ,its going to be a resource to the radiation oncologists aspiring to treat benign conditions with radiation.

As the Organizing Secretary, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire Radiation Oncology community of India for the incredible support and enthusiastic participation that made Best of ASTRO 2026, Delhi a resounding success.

Each one of you contributed in your own valued capacity. Your presence, academic participation, encouragement, and commitment made the meeting truly meaningful and memorable.

I am especially grateful to our respected seniors for gracing the occasion with their presence throughout the day, despite their demanding schedules. Your guidance, encouragement, and constant support continue to inspire and motivate us.

A special shout-out to our young oncologists, many of whom stepped into their maiden faculty experience with remarkable poise and confidence. You represented the Delhi-NCR oncology community with great distinction, and your energy and dedication were truly commendable.

The meeting was held amidst several competing engagements over the same weekend, making your participation even more special. Your collective spirit, enthusiasm, and commitment brought the event together so beautifully.

I express my gratitude to ASTRO for accepting our request to conduct this meeting.I sincerely thank AROI and Dr. Srinivasan for providing us with this wonderful opportunity. I am also deeply grateful to the leadership of Narayana Health for their constant encouragement and unwavering support for all my academic endeavours.Especially Dr Ajay Kohli for making the program as grand as it deserved to be.Finally I thank MEDEVENT for curating the event with all my wish list executed with perfection.

Live on Zee Business today, discussing the newly released WHO–IARC Global Status Report on Cancer 2026 and what it means for India.

The numbers are stark: 20.6 million new cancer cases and nearly 10 million deaths globally every year, projected to touch ~35 million cases by 2050 without urgent action.

I spoke on three things we can't afford to ignore:

🔹 Equity in healthcare — the report shows stark gaps in outcomes; 87% five-year survival for breast cancer in high-income countries vs just 42% in low-income ones. Access to timely, affordable care must reach every patient, not just a privileged few.

🔹 Screening — early detection saves lives and cuts treatment costs and morbidity. Regular screening for breast, cervical, and oral cancers remains one of our most powerful tools, yet uptake is still far too low.

🔹 Prevention — to***co control, HPV/Hepatitis B vaccination, healthier lifestyles, and reducing air pollution exposure can meaningfully bend this curve. Global to***co use is already down 27% since 2010 — proof that sustained public health action works.

Had the opportunity to speak on CNBC about the new WHO–IARC Global Status Report on Cancer 2026 🎥

Key numbers: 20.6 million new cancer cases and nearly 10 million deaths every year worldwide — and without stronger action, this could rise to 35 million cases annually by 2050. In India, 1 in 10 people is expected to develop cancer in their lifetime.

Why the rise? I spoke about:
🔹 Rising obesity, physical inactivity & unhealthy diets
🔹 Air pollution
🔹 Infection-related cancers (HPV, Hepatitis B/C, H. pylori)
🔹 An ageing population
🔹 Better screening picking up more cases

The good news — to***co use is down 27% since 2010, and more countries than ever have national cancer control plans. Progress is happening, just not fast enough.

Awareness and early detection remain our best tools. Grateful for the platform to spread this message 🙏
