PMOS is not only about fertility. The hormonal and metabolic changes associated with it can begin much earlier, sometimes years before pregnancy is even on the mind.

Irregular periods, persistent acne, unwanted hair growth or unexplained changes in weight may each seem like separate concerns. But when these signs appear together, they can be worth looking at as part of a bigger picture.

Recognising these changes early can help you understand what is happening with your cycles and reproductive health, rather than treating each symptom in isolation.

This PMOS Awareness Month, take the signs seriously and look beyond individual symptoms. Understanding what your body is telling you can be the first step towards better reproductive health.

At Nova IVF Fertility, we believe early awareness and the right evaluation can help you make informed decisions about your health and future fertility.

When something has been part of your life for years, it can be easy to stop questioning it.

Irregular periods, persistent acne, unexplained weight changes or excess hair growth can become things you simply learn to live with. But these signs may be connected to underlying hormonal and metabolic changes that deserve attention.

PMOS looks beyond the ovaries to understand the wider hormonal and metabolic picture. Recognising the signs early can help you understand your body, your cycles and your reproductive health better.

This PMOS Awareness Month, don’t dismiss recurring changes as “just normal for you”. Listen to your body, ask questions and seek the right guidance when something doesn’t feel right.

At Nova IVF Fertility, we believe better fertility awareness begins with understanding the whole picture, not just treating individual symptoms.

This round of our Fertility Wordplay Challenge explores cryopreservation, a technique that allows eggs, s***m and embryos to be frozen and stored for potential use in the future.

Using specialised freezing techniques, these reproductive cells and embryos can be preserved at extremely low temperatures, helping individuals and couples retain fertility options for a later stage of life or treatment.

Cryopreservation can be an important part of fertility preservation and IVF, whether planned in advance or used as part of an ongoing treatment cycle.

Understanding the science behind fertility preservation can help you make more informed decisions about your reproductive options and future plans.

At Nova IVF Fertility, we believe informed choices begin with reliable information, personalised guidance, and support throughout every stage of your fertility journey.

PCOS is now PMOS, reflecting a broader understanding of the condition and how it can affect the body.

The change in terminology highlights that the condition is not limited to the ovaries. PMOS can involve hormonal and metabolic changes, irregular or absent ovulation, and other symptoms that can affect reproductive health.

When ovulation is irregular, it can make conception more difficult. However, having PMOS does not mean that pregnancy is not possible. Depending on your individual situation, treatment may include lifestyle changes, medicines to support ovulation, IUI or IVF.

Understanding what is happening in your body is the first step towards finding the right approach for your fertility journey.

Being told there are no s***m in the semen does not always mean a biological pregnancy is impossible.

Dr. Deepthi, Fertility Consultant at Nova IVF, Palakkad, shares the journey of a couple who had been married for 12 years and was advised to consider donor s***m after the husband was diagnosed with azoos***mia.

A detailed evaluation revealed that he could be a candidate for surgical s***m retrieval. The team proceeded with TESA to retrieve his own s***m, which was then used for IVF.

The couple went on to achieve a successful pregnancy and are now proud parents of a healthy baby boy - showing why understanding the cause of azoos***mia is an important first step.

Finding the right match matters when it comes to building a family too.

For a pregnancy to happen naturally, a healthy egg needs to meet healthy s***m at the right time. Fertilisation then needs to take place, followed by successful implantation in the uterus.

When the timing, egg, s***m or any of these steps is affected, conceiving may not always happen as expected.

At Nova IVF Fertility, we believe understanding where the challenge may lie is the first step towards finding the right path forward.

More eggs. Better chances? Not necessarily.

When it comes to IVF with PMOS, there’s more to consider than the number of eggs retrieved.

PMOS can make the ovaries respond more strongly to stimulation, which can increase the risk of OHSS. That’s why treatment may need to focus on getting the right number of eggs, while keeping the ovarian response and safety in mind.

Because fertility treatment isn’t about doing more. It’s about finding what’s right for you.

This PMOS Awareness Month, let’s talk about personalised care, informed choices and understanding your body better.
