Biopsy or PET-CT — which one should be done first after a suspected cancer diagnosis?

Dr. Vineeta Goel explains the difference: a biopsy helps confirm cancer and identify its type, while a PET-CT is generally used for staging and assessing the extent of disease.

She also explains why there isn't just one type of PET scan. Depending on the cancer, doctors may recommend FDG PET, PSMA PET, DOTA PET or FAPI PET.

Don't book a PET-CT on your own. The right scan depends on the suspected or confirmed cancer and should be decided with your treating doctor.

Mouth ulcer ko normal samajhkar ignore kar rahe ho? 👀

Most mouth ulcers are not cancer, but a sore that doesn't heal, a persistent red/white patch, a mouth lump or difficulty opening the mouth deserves medical/dental evaluation.

Don't panic. Don't ignore. Get it checked.

Early evaluation can help identify the cause and, when necessary, lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment.

Save & share this with someone who needs this reminder.

5 warning signs your body may be trying to tell you something.

Unexplained weight loss, a persistent lump or swelling, ongoing pain, unusual bleeding and prolonged fatigue can have many causes — and they do not automatically mean cancer.

But when a symptom is persistent, unexplained or getting worse, it deserves attention rather than being ignored. The National Cancer Institute recommends speaking with a doctor when symptoms persist for a couple of weeks.

Listen to your body. Don't panic. Don't self-diagnose. Get persistent symptoms checked.

Biopsy se cancer spread ho jayega? 😰

Not usually. ❌

Biopsy cancer diagnosis ka ek important part ho sakti hai. Tissue sample ko examine karke doctors cancer ki diagnosis, type aur treatment planning ke baare mein important information prapt karte hain.

Biopsy se cancer spread hone ka risk extremely low hota hai, although rare exceptions exist depending on the cancer and procedure.

Fear ki wajah se recommended biopsy ko delay mat kijiye.

Har cancer patient ka radiation treatment plan alag ho sakta hai. 🎯

Radiation therapy mein treatment area, dose, technique aur number of sessions cancer ke type, stage, location, tumor characteristics aur patient ki overall condition jaise factors ko dekhkar decide kiye jaate hain.

Isliye kisi doosre patient ke radiation sessions ya dose ko apne treatment se compare karna sahi nahi hai.

Personalized treatment planning ka goal hai: cancer ko effectively target karna aur possible ho sake utna healthy tissue protect karna.
