Why does tea cause acidity as soon as you drink it?
Does tea directly create acid the moment it reaches your stomach? Not exactly.
Caffeine can stimulate the stomach to release more acid. If stomach pressure increases, acidic contents can also move upward into the food pipe.
Unlike the stomach, the food pipe is not as well protected against acid. When acid comes into contact with it, you may feel burning, chest discomfort, or heartburn.
So, tea-related acidity isn’t always just about “too much acid.” Both acid production and acid reflux can play a role.

Does broccoli cause gas and bloating in IBS? 🥦

Some carbohydrates in broccoli can be fermented by gut bacteria, which may produce gas. In IBS, the gut can be more sensitive to this gas, leading to bloating, abdominal discomfort, and a feeling of fullness.

If broccoli consistently triggers your symptoms, consider removing it for a short period and observing how your body responds.

Remember: broccoli doesn’t trigger symptoms in everyone with IBS — tolerance varies from person to person.

Broccoli can trigger gas and bloating in some people with IBS.

Why? Fiber + fermentable carbohydrates → gut bacteria fermentation → gas.

Your tolerance matters, so portion size matters too.

Where Does Gas Come From in Your Gut?

When we eat, some carbohydrates aren’t fully digested in the small intestine and reach the large intestine.

There, gut bacteria break them down through a process called fermentation. During this process, gases can be produced, which may contribute to bloating, abdominal discomfort, and fullness—especially in people with sensitive guts.

In simple words:
Fermentation = gut bacteria breaking down undigested food, which can produce gas.

Do you experience gas and bloating after eating chickpeas? 🤔

The reason is fermentable carbohydrates called Raffinose and Stachyose found in chickpeas.

These carbohydrates are not fully digested in the small intestine. When they reach the large intestine, gut bacteria ferment them, producing gas.

If you have IBS, this gas can trigger bloating, abdominal tightness, and discomfort.

✅ Soak chickpeas for 8–12 hours and discard the water.
✅ Cook them thoroughly in fresh water.
✅ Start with a small portion.

Why is insoluble fiber so important for your gut health?

Insoluble fiber adds bulk to stool and supports bowel movements, helping relieve constipation.

However, if you have IBS and slow intestinal transit, too much insoluble fiber can increase stool volume and worsen bloating, heaviness, and abdominal tightness.

Increased intestinal sensitivity in IBS can also make larger stool volumes uncomfortable.

Remember: Fiber is essential, but the right type and quantity depend on your gut health.

Feeling full after just 2–3 bites? It may not just be gas.

Your stomach is designed to expand as you eat. This process is called gastric accommodation, and it helps your stomach receive food without creating excessive pressure.

When this process doesn't work properly, or when stomach emptying becomes slower, you may feel full after eating only a small amount.

If you frequently experience early fullness, don't ignore it. It could be a sign of an underlying digestive issue that needs attention.

Early fullness is a symptom worth understanding, not just ignoring.

Duodenum: An Important Part of Digestion

The duodenum is the first part of the small intestine, where an important phase of digestion begins.

Digestive enzymes help break down proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. The stomach acid is also neutralized to support proper digestion.

Problems in the duodenum can affect digestion and nutrient absorption.

Did you know that a tube carrying bile from the liver opens into our intestine and plays a very important role in digestion?

The liver produces bile, and the gallbladder stores it.

When we eat, the gallbladder releases bile into the small intestine through the bile duct.

This bile duct opens into the D2 part of the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine.

But what does bile actually do?

When we eat fatty foods, bile helps break fat into tiny droplets, making it easier for pancreatic enzymes to digest it.

This is why bile plays such an important role in fat digestion.

If you want to improve your digestion, the first step is to understand your gut health.
