Celebrating the LEFT way! 👋💙

On International Left-Handers Day, a throwback to one of the initiatives we were especially proud to introduce at YOSICON 2026 — the Left-Handed Phaco Module.

For the first time, a dedicated phaco training module was designed keeping left-handed and ambidextrous ophthalmic surgeons at the centre of the learning experience.

Because surgical training should never be about forcing everyone into the same mould.
Sometimes, all it takes is changing the setup, adapting the technique, and giving every surgeon the opportunity to learn in the way that comes naturally to them.

From masterclasses and video-assisted learning to dedicated hands-on wet-lab training, the module was a small step towards making surgical education more inclusive, more adaptable, and truly learner-centric.

Here’s to all the left-handed surgeons who prove every day that sometimes, the “right” way is the left way. 😉
