IVF is more than just retrieving eggs. There are several steps between starting treatment and achieving a healthy pregnancy—and each one matters. 🤍
1. A healthy-looking egg doesn’t always become a healthy embryo.
Eggs can look normal under a microscope, but their appearance alone cannot tell us whether they have the potential to develop into a healthy embryo.
2. IVF success depends on both egg and s***m quality, not just egg count.
Having a good number of eggs is helpful, but s***m quality also plays an important role in fertilisation and embryo development.
3. Not every fertilised egg develops into a healthy blastocyst for transfer.
Even after successful fertilisation, some embryos may stop developing before reaching the blastocyst stage. This is a natural part of the IVF process.
4. Embryo transfer doesn’t always happen in the same cycle as egg retrieval.
Sometimes embryos are frozen and transferred in a later cycle. This may be recommended depending on hormone levels, the uterine lining, embryo development, or the overall treatment plan.
5. Age can affect egg quality, even when your ovarian reserve looks good.
Tests such as AMH mainly provide information about ovarian reserve, but they don’t directly measure egg quality. Egg quality is strongly influenced by age.
