Is Your MRI Hiding Your True Pain? 🕵️♂️🩺
Did you know that a "normal" MRI doesn't always tell the whole story? Many patients with a spinal canal diameter of over 10mm are told they don’t need treatment, yet they still experience persistent pain.
Here’s why your MRI might be misleading:
Postural Changes: MRIs are typically taken while lying down. However, when you stand or walk, your posture can cause compression that doesn’t show up on a stationary scan.
Instability: Subtle bone instability can cause tingling and pain during movement, which often goes unnoticed in a supine MRI.
Nerve Compression: Sometimes, the central canal is fine, but the smaller openings where nerves exit are narrowed, leading to shooting pains.
Individual Variations: Even a minor disc bulge can cause significant symptoms if your spinal canal is naturally smaller.
Don’t just rely on a report—get a clinical exam and share your MRI films with your doctor for a truly personalized treatment plan!
