That has been a regular day of my travel to hospital through an Uber cab. Because of my cervical spondylosis I avoid talking on phone or to the driver during the jerky ride of CNG cabs. But I had to take that call, where I was assuring a patient about the advancements of IVF technology and excellent results of IVF. The moment I kept the phone, my uber driver started asking me series of questions about IVF and my results. I had to answer him unwillingly first..but then he told me about his younger sister. Who was just 32 years, and 2 IVF cycles failed from a reputed IVF centre. They belonged to bihar, my home town.. So I felt certain connection and told him to bring her to me when I go to patna for my next visit. I don't know what connection he felt, but he was in touch with me asking about my travel plans. And in my next visit to patna, his sister religiously came along with her mother all the way from their village which was quite far from the city. Her mother was an intense and bold lady, standing besides her daughter like a pillar and support, emotionally and also financially. I was disheartened to hear that she was sponsoring all her treatment costs along with her driver son, as the son in law had totally withdrawn from all his responsibilities. Stigma and blame was put on the female partner again!!! I decided to help her in whatever way I could. She came to delhi, stayed with her sister and brother alternately, went through the treatment amongst all adversities and got pregnant with twin babies in first go.. Wow! I was so happy.. And the best time was when her mother came to visit along with her.. And told me.. Doctor! You kept your promise!! I still believe, when you decide to help someone, you get supported by the divine force too!
