A proud and deeply meaningful moment for Suniye Support School for Hearing Impaired Children. ❤️
We are honoured that Shri. S. Ramakrishnan, our founder and guiding force, was felicitated by Gurukulam Foundation in recognition of his lifetime of service to society and his unwavering commitment to children with hearing impairment.
A distinguished IPS officer who served the nation for nearly four decades, Shri. S. Ramakrishnan carried the same spirit of service into a cause that became deeply personal to his family.
When his son Vijay was born with profound hearing loss, he and his late wife, Smt. Parvathi Ramakrishnan, chose not to see hearing impairment as a limitation, but as a journey that could be transformed with the right support, patience and opportunity.
That experience led them, along with other parents, to establish Suniye Support School for Hearing Impaired Children in 1995.
What began as a parents’ dream has grown into a lifelong mission. Since 2011, Shri. S. Ramakrishnan has devoted himself full-time to Suniye, working tirelessly for its children, families and staff and ensuring that every child gets the opportunity to listen, communicate, learn and participate fully in society.
This felicitation is not just a recognition of one individual. It celebrates a lifetime of service, a family’s determination and a belief that every child deserves a chance to be heard.
We are deeply grateful to Gurukulam Foundation for recognising his journey and the work of Suniye.
For our family, this moment is especially emotional. What began with two parents simply wanting to give their son the same opportunities as every other child has grown into a mission that has touched the lives of countless children and families.
Father has spent a lifetime serving others. We feel privileged to have witnessed that journey up close, and immensely proud that the work he has devoted his life to is being recognised. ❤️
