Some of the strongest moments in healthcare are carried quietly by nurses.

The reassurance before a procedure, the calm during uncertainty, the patience in long hours, and the compassion patients remember long after treatment—nurses bring humanity into healing every single day.

This International Nurses Day, Dr. Charu Garg, Director & Head of Pediatrics Department at Garg Hospital, reflects on the invaluable role nurses play and how can they empower themselves

At Garg Hospital, we thank every nurse for the dignity, empathy, resilience, and strength they bring to healthcare every day.

Empowered women build stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future.

This Mother’s Day, Dr. Charu Garg, Head of Pediatrics Department & Director at Garg Hospital, shares an important message for every woman: while caring for your family, don’t forget to invest in yourself—your health, your wellbeing, your ambitions, and your peace of mind.

True empowerment begins when women prioritize preventive healthcare, listen to their bodies, make time for rest, and confidently make choices that support their physical and emotional wellbeing. When a woman is healthy, confident, and supported, the positive impact extends far beyond her—it strengthens families and shapes communities.

This Mother’s Day, Garg Hospital celebrates every mother and every woman for her resilience, compassion, and strength—and encourages her to choose herself, too.

Children may not always express what they’re going through—but they are always looking for signs of whether it feels safe to open up. Whether it’s school pressure, friendship struggles, bullying, fear, or emotional distress, a child’s first instinct should be that “I can talk to my parents.”

Creating that trust begins in everyday moments—listening without immediate judgment, responding calmly, validating their feelings, and making sure they know they will be supported, even when they make mistakes.

When children feel heard instead of dismissed, understood instead of criticised, they become more likely to confide in the moments that matter most.

A safe home is not just one that protects children physically—it is one where they feel emotionally secure enough to speak freely.

This World Liver Day, Garg Hospital brings you an important message from Dr. Sanjay Garg on a condition that is quietly becoming extremely common—fatty liver.

Fatty liver is not just related to alcohol.
In fact, many cases today are linked to lifestyle.

Poor diet, lack of physical activity, obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol are some of the biggest contributors.

What happens in fatty liver?
Excess fat starts accumulating in liver cells.

Initially, there may be no symptoms at all.
But over time, this can lead to inflammation, liver damage, and even cirrhosis.

That’s what makes it dangerous—it develops silently.

The good news? It is reversible in early stages.

Simple steps can make a big difference:
✔ Maintain a balanced diet
✔ Reduce sugar and processed foods
✔ Exercise regularly
✔ Manage weight and blood sugar
✔ Get regular health checkups

Your liver has the ability to heal—but only if you act in time.

This World Liver Day, take your liver health seriously.

Is It Just a Cough — or Something More Serious?

Not every cough is harmless. When it lingers beyond a couple of weeks, is accompanied by fever, weight loss, or fatigue, it may point to something more serious like tuberculosis.

Dr. Sanjay Garg explains how to recognise the red flags that separate a routine cough from TB - so you don’t delay care when it matters most. A timely check-up can prevent complications and protect those around you as well.

India accounts for over 25% of the global Tuberculosis (TB) burden, with around 2.8 million cases reported annually. One of the biggest challenges in controlling TB is delayed diagnosis, which increases both disease severity and transmission.

Let’s understand how Tuberculosis is diagnosed with Dr. Sanjay Garg—because early and accurate detection is the foundation of effective treatment.

TB diagnosis in India follows a structured, multi-step approach:

• Sputum Smear Microscopy – the most common initial test, where sputum is examined for TB bacteria
• Chest X-ray – helps identify lung involvement and guides further testing
• CBNAAT (GeneXpert) – a rapid molecular test widely used across India that detects TB bacteria and rifampicin resistance within hours
• Culture Tests (MGIT) – considered highly definitive, used in more complex or drug-resistant cases

Unlike common infections, TB cannot be diagnosed based on symptoms alone. A persistent cough, fever, weight loss, and fatigue require proper medical evaluation and confirmatory testing.

India has significantly strengthened its diagnostic infrastructure, making advanced TB testing more accessible than ever before—but awareness and timely action remain critical.

Early diagnosis not only improves recovery outcomes but also plays a key role in breaking the chain of transmission.

Test early. Treat completely. Stay aware.

India accounts for over 25% of the world’s Tuberculosis (TB) cases, with an estimated 2.8–3 million new cases reported every year—making it the highest-burden country globally. What’s more concerning is that a significant number of cases go undiagnosed or are detected late, allowing the infection to spread silently within families and communities.

Let’s understand Tuberculosis with Dr. Sanjay Garg—from the real burden it carries in India to the symptoms people often ignore, and the crucial difference between a normal cough and a TB-related cough.

TB is an airborne infection that primarily affects the lungs and spreads through droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. The early signs can seem deceptively mild—a persistent cough lasting more than 2 weeks, low-grade fever (often worse in the evening), night sweats, fatigue, loss of appetite, and unexplained weight loss. In some cases, there may even be blood in the sputum.

The biggest challenge? These symptoms are often mistaken for seasonal illness or a routine cough.
A normal cough usually resolves within a few days and improves with basic care. In contrast, a TB-related cough lingers, gradually worsens, and is often accompanied by systemic symptoms like weakness and weight loss.

India has made significant progress under the National TB Elimination Programme, yet early detection remains the most powerful tool in controlling the disease and reducing transmission.

Knowing when to act can make all the difference—not just for your recovery, but for protecting those around you.

Early diagnosis. Complete treatment. Responsible awareness.

Let’s understand the growing role of screen time in children with Dr. Charu Garg, Head of Pediatrics Department & Director at Garg Hospital.

In today’s fast-paced lives, screens have become an easy and convenient way to keep children engaged. While it may help in the moment, excessive screen time can gradually affect attention span, sleep patterns, and overall development.

It’s not about blame—it’s about awareness. Small, mindful changes in daily habits can make a significant difference in a child’s growth and well-being. Encouraging play, conversation, and real-world interaction helps build healthier routines over time.

Balanced parenting isn’t about eliminating screens completely, but about using them wisely while prioritising a child’s overall development.
