World Arthritis Day, celebrated on 12th October each year, was initially established by Arthritis and Rheumatism International in 1996. Though awareness of rheumatological diseases is a continuous process, this day reminds us of the significance of recognising and treating these diseases early on, lest they become crippling.
"It's in your hands, take action" : Theme WAD 2022. Let's join hands to spread awareness and sensitise people and most importantly bust the myth that 'arthritis isn't treatable'.
Come forward, take the first step and be a inspiration !! Lets aim for a pain-free world😊

It is a pleasure and profound privilege to speak in presence of august audience of Rheumatologists and physicians and interact with the brightest minds on the most intriguing topics. Thoroughly enjoyed speaking on IMMUNISATION IN AUTOIMMUNE RHEUMATIC DISEASES at the prestigious Delhi Rheumatology Association Annual Conference 2021. The take home messages are
1. Patients with autoimmune diseases are at increased risk of infections.
2. All AIRD patients are strongly adviced to get their yearly FLU SHOTS and Pneumococcal vaccine.
3. All inactivated vaccines are safe, albeit the response to vaccine might be blunted due to immunosuppressive treatment. Still SOME PROTECTION IS BETTER THAN NO PROTECTION.
4. Caution is adviced with live attenuated vaccines.
5. Covid vaccine is adviced in all AIRD patients though the data is still emerging.
6. Consult your treating Rheumatologist and discuss vaccination schedule if you are on any immunosuppressive therapy for autoimmune disease.
