Your Breath is Your Built-in Stress Switch
Did you know your breathing changes within seconds when you’re stressed? It impacts your sympathetic nervous system.
Fast, shallow breathing tells your brain that you’re in danger- even when you’re safe.
You can send the opposite message just by slowing your breath.
Try the Serenity Calm Breath Meditation
•INHALE GENTLY FOR 4 SECONDS
•HOLD FOR 5 SECONDS
•EXHALE SLOWLY FOR 6 SECONDS
Repeat for 1 minute
Notice what changes:
Your heartbeat begins to slow.
Your mind feels clearer.
Your body starts to relax.
This is biofeedback in everyday life- using your body’s own signals to help your brain feel safe.
Today’s Challenge:
Practice this breathing exercise before an important meeting, while waiting in traffic, or before going to sleep.
Your breath is always with you. Make it your superpower.
