One of patient is suffering from a severe complications after taking IV fluid through cannula ..see the details 👉🏼
Cannula fitting (insertion and maintenance) .. Common Complications
👉🏼Phlebitis: Inflammation of the vein, often presenting as pain, erythema (redness), swelling, or a palpable, cord-like vein.
👉🏼Infiltration: Inadvertent leakage of non-vesicant (non-tissue damaging) fluids into the surrounding tissue, causing swelling, coolness, and discomfort.
👉🏼Extravasation: A more serious version of infiltration where vesicant medications (e.g., chemotherapy, potassium) leak into tissues, potentially causing severe tissue damage, necrosis, and blistering.
👉🏼Occlusion/Blockage: A blockage preventing the infusion of fluids or blood aspiration, often due to clotting.
👉🏼Haematoma: Bruising caused by blood leaking from the vein into surrounding tissue, typically following a failed attempt or failure to apply pressure after removing the cannula.
👉🏼Catheter Dislodgement: The accidental movement of the catheter tip out of the vein, often caused by poor securement or patient movement.
👉🏼Infection/Cellulitis: Localized infection at the insertion site, presenting with pus, warmth, or tenderness.
👉🏼Nerve Damage: Rare, but potential injury causing sharp pain, numbness, or tingling if a nerve is punctured.
👉🏼Venous Spasm: An involuntary contraction of the vein causing pain and blanching of the skin.
