🚨 NO MORE HIDDEN INGREDIENTS! 🚨
Your packaged snacks are about to look VERY different. 🛒👇
In a massive win for public health, FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) has proposed mandatory RED FRONT-OF-PACK WARNING LABELS for ultra-processed foods and beverages high in sugar, fat, or salt.
This major policy shift comes after intense pressure from the Supreme Court of India, which sternly reprimanded authorities asking: "You don’t want people of this country to remain healthy? More particularly growing children?"
📌 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (The Big Highlights)
🔻 The Red Hexagon Warning: FSSAI’s compliance affidavit proposes a prominent red hexagonal symbol on the FRONT of packaging for products crossing safety thresholds.
⚠️ Clear Declarations: You will soon see bold labels reading “HIGH SUGAR”, “HIGH FAT”, “HIGH SALT”, or “HIGHLY SWEETENED BEVERAGE”.
🏢 Big Food Backlash: Food giants like Coca-Cola, Nestlé, and PepsiCo have previously resisted front-of-pack warnings, arguing they could "confuse" consumers, but health advocates and the apex court held firm.
⏳ Phased Rollout:
Phase 1: Products exceeding limits in two or more target nutrients (or sweetened drinks).
Phase 2: Expanded to cover products high in even a single nutrient.
🍯 Exemptions: Single-ingredient traditional foods like pure ghee, honey, jaggery, edible oil, and raw sugar will be excluded.
🌿 THE AYURVEDIC & NUTRITIONIST TAKE
In Ayurveda, foods that are excessively refined, laden with artificial sugars, and over-salted are considered Tamasic—they cause Ama (toxic build-up), dull the digestion (Agni), and directly contribute to lifestyle disorders like PCOS, Type 2 Diabetes, Fatty Liver, and Hypertension.
For years, sneaky marketing has masked these junk foods as "healthy" or "low fat." Clear front-labeling puts the power back in your hands, allowing you to make conscious, mindful food choices at a glance! 🌿✨
