A story of pain, perseverance and finding her way back. In this deeply personal conversation, Nivedita Ma’am shares how Iyengar Yoga supported her through physical limitations, emotional trauma and a time when even using her limbs felt difficult.
While modern science and physiotherapy played an important role in her recovery, yoga helped her reconnect with her body, rebuild strength and quite literally stand on her own two feet again.

Nivedita Ma’am explains Uttanasana and the importance of approaching the posture with awareness, alignment, and patience.

More than simply bending forward, Uttanasana teaches us how to lengthen the spine, work through the legs, soften unnecessary tension, and gradually create space within the body. With the right understanding and consistent practice, the posture can help calm the nervous system, quieten the mind, and bring a deeper sense of balance.
