This is depicts sciatica, a condition caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, which is the largest nerve in the human body. The sciatic nerve originates in the lower back (lumbar spine) and runs down through the hips, buttocks, and legs. When the nerve becomes compressed-commonly due to a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, or degenerative disc disease-it can lead to sharp, burning, or radiating pain along the nerve's path. The pain typically starts in the lower back and extends through the buttock and down one leg, often worsening with movement, prolonged sitting, or certain postures. This diagram shows the typical radiating pain distribution, emphasizing how inflammation or nerve impingement in the lower spine can affect the entire lower limb. Treatment options vary based on severity and cause but may include physical therapy, medications, nerve blocks, or even surgery in chronic or severe cases.

Sciatica, a condition caused by irritation or compression of theal sciatic nerve, often due to a bulging or herniated disc in the lower spine. The bulging disc presses on the nerve root, leading to la radiating pain that travels from the lower back through the buttock, down the back of the thigh, and sometimes into the calf and foot.

The colored areas show common pain patterns, including numbness, tingling, or weakness along the nerve path. This pain is typically one-sided and may worsen with sitting, coughing, or prolonged standing. Treatment may include NSAIDs, physical therapy, hot/cold packs, and in severe cases, steroid injections or surgery.

Bell's palsy is a condition characterized by sudden, temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face due to inflammation or compression of the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII). This is a classic signs of Bell's palsy: drooping of the eyebrow, eyelid, and corner of the mouth on the affected side. This results in facial asymmetry, impaired blinking, and difficulty with facial expressions such as smiling or frowning.

This condition often develops rapidly, sometimes overnight, and may be associated with pain around the ear or jaw, increased sensitivity to sound (hyperacusis), and decreased tear or saliva production on the affected side. While the exact cause is often unknown, it has been associated with viral infections such as herpes simplex. Most patients experience significant improvement within weeks, especially with early treatment using corticosteroids, though complete recovery may take several months. In rare cases, residual weakness or recurrence may occur.
