Celebration of the Day 2026 at

On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, 15th August 2026, Diphu Medical College celebrated the day with great enthusiasm in front of the Academic Building.

The ceremony was graced by Respected Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Sumitra Hagjer, along with Vice-Principal Prof. (Dr.) Bandana Mahanta, Superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Pinpo Teron, Additional Superintendents Dr. Md. Meraj Alom and Dr. Ratul Thakur, MEU Coordinator Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Saloi, other faculty members, staff, and students.

Respected Principal Madam hoisted the National Flag and delivered an inspiring speech, followed by the singing of . The program also included a few cultural performances and distribution of fruits to admitted patients.

In addition, the National Flag was hoisted at the following locations:

- Diyung Boys' Hostel by Dr. Md. Meraj Alom

Celebration at College

Doctors' Day is observed annually on 1st July to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned physician, freedom fighter, and the former Chief Minister of West Bengal. He is celebrated as one of India’s most distinguished medical professionals, and this day honors his immense contributions to healthcare, medical education, and public service in the country.

On this occasion, celebrated Doctors' Day with great reverence and enthusiasm. The event was graced by the presence of all faculty members along with the respected Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Sumitra Hagjer . The celebration served as a tribute to the dedication, compassion, and selfless service of doctors who work tirelessly to safeguard lives and uphold the dignity of the medical profession.

The program included reflections on the vital role of physicians in society, expressions of gratitude toward the medical fraternity, and a collective reaffirmation of the commitment to patient care and ethical medical practice.

Department of , today observed “World Vitiligo Day” under the inspiring theme “From Stigma to Strength”

We have organised various activities on this occasion.
samples and counseling to Vitiligo patients.
Writing and Quiz Competition was organised among the Phase 3 students and prizes were distributed to the winners.
have also played a Podcast Video on “ Vitiligo & Mental Health” featuring Dr Bonnyma Rongpharpi , Assistant Professor, Dermatology Dept. and Dr Biplab Konwar, Registrar , Psychiatry Department with the aim to bring awareness regarding vitiligo and various mental health issues that arises due to it . The discussion emphasized the importance of holistic care, mental well-being, and the need to challenge societal stigma associated with visible skin conditions.Through this video , an attempt is made to promote inclusivity , diversity and provide a space of understanding, empathy and compassion towards those affected with vitiligo.
This event was graced by respected Principal madam of Medical College & Hospital , Prof. (Dr.) Sumitra Hagjer , Superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Pinpo Teron , HOD of Psychiatry Dept Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Nath Sir.
Through these activities, the Vitiligo Day Program reinforced a powerful message: Vitiligo does not define an individual. Awareness, empathy, and support can transform stigma into strength and help build a more inclusive society.

Students from Diphu Medical College and Hospital once again excelled in the Final MBBS examinations. Raja Agarwal secured rank with honours in Surgery and Otorhinolaryngology, while Mumina Begum secured rank with honours marks in Surgery, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, and Paediatrics.

In addition, a total of 12 students obtained honours marks in Otorhinolaryngology, 4 in Ophthalmology, 5 in Surgery, and 1 in Paediatrics.

A felicitation programme was held at in honour of the successful students. The programme was attended by the Respected Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent Madam Prof. (Dr.) Sumitra Hagjer, MEU Coordinator Madam Prof. (Dr.) Ritu Saloi , Superintendent Sir Prof. (Dr.) Pinpo Teron, and other faculty members.

A total of 89 successful students were felicitated during the event. The Respected Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent Madam, MEU Coordinator Madam, and Superintendent Sir delivered meaningful speeches, encouraging and congratulating the students on their remarkable achievement.

An Exhibition cm Competition of embryology models made by Phase-I MBBS students was organized by the Department of Anatomy at . The first, second, and third best models among them were selected and awarded prizes.Respected Principal Madam graced the occasion and delivered a very suitable and meaningful speech for the students. The judges of the entire events were Prof.(Dr.) Ritu Saloi,HOD,Department of Anatomy, Prof.(Dr.) Dipti Bania, HOD, Department of Physiology and Prof.(Dr.) Bharti Devi,HOD,Department of Biochemistry.

In reality, the subject of embryology is somewhat difficult to understand because students find it very hard to grasp how the human embryo is formed and how different organs develop and grow simultaneously in different directions (3 dimensionally) along with the embryo.Through the process of studying the subject themselves and making the models(with easily available raw materials), the students have been able to become more self-reliant on the subject and have also been able to explain it to other students.
