đŸŒ§ī¸ Rainy Season Viral Infections on the Rise?
Here are important tips
1ī¸âƒŖ Don’t delay – If cough, chest tightness, breathlessness, wheezing, or fever lasts more than 3–4 days, consult a Pulmonologist.
2ī¸âƒŖ Note your symptoms – Track when they started, triggers (cold air, dust, rain), and any associated issues like fatigue or throat pain.
3ī¸âƒŖ Avoid self-medication – Over-the-counter cough syrups may hide serious issues. Proper diagnosis is key.
4ī¸âƒŖ Bring records – Previous reports, medicines you’re taking, and allergy history help faster treatment.
5ī¸âƒŖ Lifestyle matters – Mention smoking/vaping history, exposure to pollution, or damp home conditions.
6ī¸âƒŖ Early intervention – Viral infections can lead to bronchitis or pneumonia if ignored. Timely care prevents complications.
Your lungs deserve expert attention! đŸĢ

"Awareness on High altitude sickness"
As the summer season approaches, many of us start planning our vacations—especially to beautiful mountain destinations like Darjeeling, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh.

While these places offer breathtaking views and a refreshing escape from the heat, it’s important to remember that many of these locations are situated at high altitudes. Traveling rapidly to such heights can expose individuals to a condition known as high-altitude sickness.

High-altitude sickness can affect anyone—young or old, healthy or with existing medical conditions. Common symptoms include headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, breathlessness, and difficulty sleeping. In some cases, it can progress to more serious conditions affecting the brain or lungs.

What is important to understand is that this condition is preventable and manageable with proper awareness.

Before planning your trip, it is always advisable to consult your doctor—especially if you have any underlying health conditions like lung disease, heart disease, or previous history of altitude sickness. Your doctor can guide you regarding fitness for travel and preventive medications if needed.

During your journey, try to ascend gradually, stay well hydrated, avoid overexertion on the first few days, and listen to your body. If symptoms appear, do not ignore them—seek medical help promptly.

Remember, a safe traveler is a smart traveler.

Enjoy your vacation, explore the mountains, but prioritize your health.

Thank you.

**Tuberculosis Awareness**

Hello everyone,

Today, I want to address an important and often misunderstood aspect of tuberculosis, or TB.

Many people believe that all forms of TB are highly contagious and require strict isolation. However, this is not entirely true. Not all types of TB are infectious.

Tuberculosis mainly spreads through the air when a person with active pulmonary TB—meaning TB affecting the lungs—coughs, sneezes, or speaks. This is the form that can be contagious, especially if it is untreated.

On the other hand, many forms of TB that affect other parts of the body—such as lymph nodes, bones, or the brain—are generally not contagious. Patients with these forms do not pose a risk of spreading the disease to others in routine settings.

Therefore, isolation is not mandatory for every TB patient. It is only required in specific situations, particularly in untreated or infectious pulmonary TB cases, and even then, only for a limited period once treatment has started.

What is most important is awareness and adherence to treatment. TB is a completely treatable and curable disease when managed properly. Patients must follow their prescribed medication regimen consistently and complete the full course of therapy.

As a community, we should focus on supporting patients rather than stigmatizing them. Understanding the disease helps reduce fear, encourages timely treatment, and ultimately helps control its spread.

Let us replace myths with knowledge, stigma with support, and fear with awareness.

Thank you.
