Happy World Neurosurgery Day to all. On this special day we would like to share a story of a case we recently performed successfully.
This is a case of Os odontoideum (Congenital malunion of the C2 dens with the C2 body) with reducible Atlanto Axial Dislocation causing severe high cervical cord compression and myelopathy. For this a C1C2 lateral mass fixation usually suffices. But, as all Surgeons would agree, that every case is unique, he also had lower levels canal stenosis along with facet arthropathy and listhesis. So we planned for a C1 to C5 Lateral mass fixation and C3 to C5 Laminoplasty. The surgery went exceptionally well and the patient is showing great recovery. All thanks to the Anaesthesia Department and Staff who are taking care of our patients undergoing such complex surgeries only a daily basis.
Happy World Neurosurgery Day once again!!

This young man was brought to our hospital with severe head injury in a state of coma by bystanders who only knew his name. All thanks to our staff and doctors of TICU STNM and the generosity of Garib Janprkosta and volunteers, He has made great recovery but he is unable to recall his past. He still needs help till he is completely recovered which may take months. The information he is giving us is unreliable as he is still confused. He has nowhere to go and no family members to take care of him.

The name he gives is Karan Tamang apparently from Darjeeling and working in Singtam and Rangpo area.
If any one has any information about his family and address please contact us.

This young patient who was admitted in STNM underwent multiple surgeries including Decompressive Craniectomy, Cranioplasty, Tracheostomy and VP shunt has made a remarkable recovery. She was in coma and was on ventilatory support for months. After a long period of intensive care and rehabilitation she walked in today all by herself like as if nothing ever happened. God is truly great 🙏
