In 2021, when Mr. Vinod Kumar Sharma from Bulandshahr came to Yashoda Hospital, Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad, he was experiencing blood in his urine. Further evaluation revealed a serious condition — a large tumor in his urinary bladder.

A biopsy confirmed muscle-invasive bladder cancer, meaning the cancer had grown deep into the bladder wall. Fortunately, PET scan showed the cancer had NOT spread anywhere else. It was still caught in time. This made timely treatment especially important.

Under the expert care of Dr. Pradeep Prakash, Director – Urology, Uro-Oncology & Robotic Surgery, the team planned a Radical Cystectomy — a major surgery in which the entire urinary bladder is removed and a new pathway for urine is created using a segment of the intestine. It is one of the most complex surgeries in urology.

The surgery was successfully performed and today, 5 years later, PET-CT report of Vinod Ji is normal, his urinary function is good, and he has returned to his normal lifestyle. Most importantly, he is comfortable with his new urinary pathway and has a good quality of life. ❤️
