Pregnancy comes with many “Is this safe?” questions — and some medicines, habits, and exposures need extra caution. 🤰🏻✨
Certain retinoids, alcohol, smoking or va**ng, significant chemical exposure, and high-dose radiation may affect fetal development and can increase the risk of pregnancy-related complications or birth defects.
💊 Retinoids: Oral isotretinoin is especially unsafe during pregnancy and can cause serious birth defects.
🍷 Alcohol: It crosses the placenta and can affect the baby’s brain development and growth.
🚭 Smoking & va**ng: Ni****ne and other chemicals can reduce the baby’s oxygen supply and are linked with poor fetal growth and preterm birth.
🧪 Certain chemical exposures: Significant exposure to some solvents, pesticides, and heavy metals may interfere with fetal development.
🩻 X-rays & CT scans: High-dose radiation exposure, particularly during early pregnancy, may affect fetal development. If imaging is medically necessary, always inform your doctor that you’re pregnant so appropriate precautions can be taken.
When in doubt, don’t self-decide — check with your gynaecologist. 🤍
Save this for your pregnancy journey and share it with someone who may need it. 📌
