Prof. (Dr.) B Rajanarayan Prusty, Dean – Research and Innovation at NIU, led an exclusive capacity-building session for the faculty of the School of Law and Legal Affairs (SLLA), NIU titled “Innovation in Research Publishing: Smart Tips for
Manuscript Preparation, Platform Selection and Indexing.”
The session addressed manuscript preparation tailored for law, including abstract writing that capture the attention of editors, mastering citation standards, and avoiding the most common rejection triggers in law journals. Prof. Prusty also covered platform selection that truly matters, focusing on how to
identify Scopus, and WoS indexed law journals, and how to spot predatory publishers that often target legal academics.
Further, the session demystified indexing and visibility by explaining how indexing agencies evaluate legal scholarship, ways to boost discoverability for NAAC, NIRF, and QS metrics, and strategies to align publications with institutional and global benchmarks. A critical component was ethics and
integrity in legal writing.
This half day event was a prescribed R&D activity under the theme “Research Paper Writing and Journal Publication Support Workshop” within Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) 8.0, aligned with the NIU Student Startup and Innovation Programme (NSSIP). While NSSIP fuels student ventures,
IIC 8.0 strengthens the research ecosystem through faculty and student upskilling, and this session
bridged that gap for SLLA.
Sincere thanks to Mr. Manish Pratap Singh, Research and Innovation Coordinator – SLLA, and Prof.
(Dr.) Namita Vyas Joshi, Dean - SLLA for driving this focused initiative. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Uma Bhardwaj, Vice Chancellor, for her unwavering encouragement, and our chairman sir, Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, for his visionary leadership driving NIU’s research and innovation agenda. Excited to see SLLA’s next wave of high-impact, indexed legal scholarship.
