CEREBRAL PALSY

Different abilities. Same dreams. 💙

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a lifelong condition affecting movement, muscle control, coordination and posture. It happens due to injury or abnormal development of the developing brain, usually before or around birth.

🌱 What can you notice?

• Delayed developmental milestones
• Stiff or floppy muscles
• Difficulty with balance & coordination
• Involuntary movements
• Speech or communication difficulties
• Sometimes vision or hearing problems

🧠 Can physiotherapy help?

Absolutely.

Physiotherapy focuses on:
✨ Improving movement
✨ Building strength
✨ Developing balance & coordination
✨ Improving posture
✨ Increasing independence
✨ Helping children participate in everyday activities

There is no single “CP journey.”
Every child has different abilities, challenges and goals.

💙 Our goal isn’t to change who they are—
it’s to help them discover what they CAN do.

Your posture is not about “sitting perfectly.”
It’s about how you move, how often you move, and how your body feels.

Head forward? Shoulders rounded? Sitting for hours?
Your body may simply be asking for movement—not perfection. 🧘🏻‍♀️

✨ Lift your head
✨ Relax your shoulders
✨ Change positions often
✨ Strengthen your body
✨ Keep moving

Small posture habits today can make a big difference tomorrow.

💙 Stand tall. Move well. Feel better.

💤 Is Your Sleeping Position Affecting Your Back & Neck?

We spend almost one-third of our day sleeping, so the way we sleep can make a difference to how our body feels when we wake up.

From sleeping on your back or side to using the wrong pillow height, small changes in your sleeping posture may affect neck alignment, spinal comfort and morning stiffness.

🛏️ The goal isn’t to find one “perfect” sleeping position—it’s to find a position that keeps your spine comfortable and well supported.

✔️ Better sleeping positions
✔️ Positions that may increase strain
✔️ Pillow placement tips

🦴 Lower Back Pain? It’s Not Always the Same Problem!

“Meri kamar mein dard hai” can have many different causes—and the right treatment depends on finding the source of the pain. ❤️

Some common possibilities include:
🔹 Muscle strain or tight muscles
🔹 Disc-related pain / sciatica
🔹 Facet joint irritation
🔹 Sacroiliac (SI) joint pain
🔹 Spinal stenosis
🔹 Spondylolisthesis

That’s why one exercise or treatment doesn’t work for everyone. A proper physiotherapy assessment helps understand your symptoms, movement patterns and neurological signs before choosing the right exercises.

What you can do:

✅ Stay gently active
✅ Avoid prolonged bed rest
✅ Gradually strengthen your core, hips & back
✅ Stretch according to your symptoms
✅ Improve your posture and daily movement habits
✅ Don’t ignore persistent or worsening pain

🚨 Seek medical attention urgently if back pain is accompanied by progressive weakness, numbness around the saddle area, bowel/bladder changes, significant trauma, fever or unexplained weight loss.

📌 Save this post—and remember:
Correct diagnosis → Correct treatment → Better recovery.

💬 Having back pain? Get assessed rather than guessing the cause.

🎾 Tennis Elbow: Don’t Ignore the Early Signs!

Tennis elbow doesn’t always start with severe pain. Early recognition + smart load management can prevent symptoms from becoming persistent.

🚩 Watch for these early signs:
• Pain or tenderness on the outer side of the elbow
• Pain while gripping or carrying objects
• Discomfort while lifting a cup, bag or laptop
• Pain with wrist or finger extension
• Reduced grip strength
• Pain after repetitive work, gym exercises or racquet sports

🛑 What should you do?

✅ Reduce or modify activities that repeatedly aggravate the pain
✅ Avoid suddenly increasing weights, repetitions or racquet-sport intensity
✅ Give your forearm adequate recovery time
✅ Start gradual wrist & forearm strengthening rather than complete rest
✅ Work on grip and forearm endurance progressively
✅ Pay attention to your technique and ergonomics
✅ Don’t repeatedly push through sharp or increasing pain

Remember: Tennis elbow isn’t only a “tennis injury”—repetitive gripping and wrist loading from work, gym, household activities and sports can all contribute.

📌 Save this post if you use your hands a lot.
📤 Share it with someone experiencing early elbow pain.
💬 Persistent pain, numbness, weakness or worsening symptoms? Get assessed by a physiotherapist.

Early action → Better recovery → Stronger elbow. 💪

🦴 CERVICAL SPINE DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS

A quick clinical guide for physiotherapy students & clinicians

Not every neck pain is a “tight muscle.” Before treating, identify where the pain comes from and whether neurological involvement is present.

🔹 Cervical Facet Pain
Unilateral neck pain, often referring toward the shoulder/scapular region. Pain may increase with extension + rotation.

🔹 Cervical Discogenic Pain
Central/paramedian neck pain that may refer toward the shoulder or arm. Assess movement/loading patterns and neurological status.

🔹 Cervical Radiculopathy
Neck pain radiating into the arm with paraesthesia, numbness or weakness.
Think: Spurling + ULTT + cervical rotation + distraction + neurological screen.

🔹 Cervical Myelopathy 🚨
Neck symptoms associated with hand clumsiness, gait/balance changes or UMN signs.
➡️ Requires medical assessment.

🔹 Cervicogenic Headache
Headache associated with cervical movement and restricted upper-cervical mobility.

🔹 Myofascial Pain
Local neck/upper-trapezius pain with muscle tenderness and symptoms reproduced with palpation or resisted activity.

🔹 Whiplash-Associated Disorder
Neck pain/stiffness following acceleration–deceleration trauma, sometimes accompanied by headache or dizziness.

🔹 Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Neck/shoulder/arm symptoms with neurological or vascular features, often influenced by position.

🔹 Shoulder Pathology
Sometimes the shoulder is the source, even when the patient reports neck/upper-arm pain. Always screen the shoulder.

🔹 Serious Pathology 🚨
Trauma, fever, unexplained weight loss, progressive neurological deficit, severe unusual headache or other systemic/vascular symptoms → refer appropriately.

🧠 Clinical sequence to remember:

HISTORY → RED FLAGS → CERVICAL ROM → NEURO SCREEN → SPECIAL TESTS → SHOULDER/THORACIC SCREEN → CLASSIFY → TREAT

YOUR FEET ARE YOUR FOUNDATION.
Strong feet = Better balance • Better stability • Better movement

Your feet work all day—but we often forget to strengthen them.
Simple foot exercises can help improve foot and ankle control, balance and functional strength.

Try these 9 exercises 👇

1️⃣ Make an Arch
Lift your arch without curling your toes.

2️⃣ Toe Clawing
Curl your toes down and gently grip the floor.

3️⃣ Toe Fanning
Spread your toes as wide as you can.

4️⃣ Theraband — Up & Down
Strengthen ankle dorsiflexion & plantarflexion.

5️⃣ Theraband — In & Out
Work on ankle inversion & eversion.

6️⃣ Ankle Rotations
Slow clockwise + anticlockwise circles.

7️⃣ Single-Leg Balance
Train foot control, proprioception & stability.

8️⃣ Calf Raises
Rise onto your toes and lower slowly.

9️⃣ Wall Calf Stretch
Keep the heel grounded and gently stretch the calf.

💡 Start with 10–15 repetitions for strengthening exercises and progress gradually according to your ability.

✨ Strong feet don’t just support your feet—they support your entire body.

Is your child 10–18 years old? 👀🦴

The teenage years are a major period of growth—and sometimes changes in posture, spinal alignment and movement can go unnoticed.

Watch out for:
✨ Uneven shoulders or hips
✨ Rounded back / forward head
✨ Frequent back or leg discomfort
✨ Stiffness or reduced flexibility
✨ Balance or coordination changes
✨ Sudden drop in sports performance

These signs don’t automatically mean there is a spinal problem—but they are worth paying attention to.

💡 Don’t wait for pain to become the first warning sign. Early awareness can make a difference.

Most physio students can name the 5 spinal curves. But do you understand WHY each one exists and what happens when they’re lost? 🦴

Swipe to learn the biomechanical reason behind every curve — and how this knowledge shapes your clinical assessments forever.

What’s inside this carousel:
→ Primary vs Secondary curves — and why it matters
→ Why the cervical lordosis develops at 3–4 months
→ Why the thoracic kyphosis protects your organs
→ Why the lumbar lordosis is your spine’s shock absorber
