"I love my panic attacks more than my wife. I really hate admitting this" ๐
Everyone in the room went silent.
I looked at him and asked,
"Did I hear that correctly?"
He nodded.
"Yes, Yogesh Sir. I know it sounds crazy... but it's true."
He was a 39-year-old senior manager working for a multinational company.
On paper, he had everything.
โค๏ธ A loving wife.
๐ง A six-year-old daughter.
๐ผ A good salary.
๐ก A beautiful home.
But for the last four years, one thing had become the center of his life.
โ Not his family.
โค๏ธโ๐ฉน His panic attacks.
Every morning, before even saying "Good morning" to his wife, he would check his pulse.
If his heart skipped one beat...
His mind screamed...
"Heart attack!" ๐ฐ
Within seconds...
๐ His chest became heavy.
โค๏ธ His heart started racing.
๐ฅถ His palms turned cold.
๐ฎโ๐จ His breathing became shallow.
๐ต He felt dizzy.
๐ฆต His legs became weak.
Sometimes his left arm tingled.
He was convinced...
"This is it. I'm dying."
He rushed to the emergency room more than 30 times. ๐
Every ECG...
Every blood test...
Every heart scan...
โ
Came back normal.
The cardiologist finally smiled and said,
"Your heart is healthy. The problem isn't your heart."
But he couldn't believe it.
He stopped playing with his daughter because his heartbeat increased while running.
He stopped going on vacations. โ๏ธ
He avoided climbing stairs.
He stopped watching emotional movies.
He even avoided intimacy with his wife because he feared his heart couldn't handle it.
His entire life revolved around one question...
"What if I get another panic attack?"
Then I asked him,
"Why did you say you love your panic attacks more than your wife?"
His eyes filled with tears. ๐ข
"Because I spend every minute thinking about them."
"I wake up thinking about them."
"I sleep worrying about them."
"I read about them."
"I search Google about them."
"I discuss them with doctors."
"I check my pulse hundreds of times."
"I plan every outing around them."
"My wife waits for me to look at her..."
"But I keep looking at my smartwatch." โ
He paused.
Then whispered...
"If love means giving someone your time, attention, and emotions... then I've given all of that to my panic attacks."
Not my wife.
Not my daughter.
That sentence hit harder than any symptom ever could.
The biggest damage panic attacks cause isn't just a racing heart.
It's that they quietly steal...
๐ Your attention.
๐ Your relationships.
๐ Your confidence.
๐ And eventually...
Your life.
The good news? ๐ฑ
Once he understood that he wasn't fighting his heartโbut the fear of his heartโeverything began to change.
Today, his first instinct isn't to check his pulse.
It's to hug his daughter. โค๏ธ
Sometimes, the strongest prison isn't built by disease.
It's built by fear.
