Parents, Watch How Your Baby Is Breathing

Sometimes, a baby’s breathing can tell you that something is wrong even before they can express any discomfort.

If you notice that your baby is breathing very fast and the chest is pulling inward with each breath, this can be a sign of breathing difficulty. This inward movement of the chest is called chest retraction or chest indrawing.

Breathing difficulty in children can happen for different reasons, including chest infections, bronchiolitis, asthma, an inhaled foreign object or an airway problem.
