“World Su***de Prevention Day” @ Medanta
As a psychiatrist, I strongly believe that everyone should be equipped with the knowledge and skills to respond to someone experiencing a suicidal crisis. Su***de prevention is not only the responsibility of mental health professionals—it is something we can all contribute to.
By recognising warning signs, responding with empathy, and intervening early, we can potentially save lives. Sometimes, the right conversation at the right time can make all the difference.
At Medanta, we took a step towards this by initiating capacity building for our hospital staff, equipping them to recognise and respond to suicidal crises and contribute towards su***de prevention among employees.
We also conducted a workshop on “Psychotherapeutic Interventions in Suicidal Crises” for school counsellors, psychologists, and mental health trainees, focusing on strengthening their skills to better understand and manage suicidality among students and clients.
Because su***de prevention begins with awareness, preparedness, and the courage to act.
💛 Let’s change the narrative.
Let’s create hope through action.
