Shining a Light on Autism | Empowering Educators

Had the privilege of delivering a talk on “Caregiver’s Stress” at an insightful session hosted at CORAS Hall, Pratiksha Rainbow Children’s Hospital in collaboration with BirthRight by Rainbow Hospitals along with our HOD Dr. Partha Pratim Borah da, Developmental Paediatrician Dr Amrita Gautam and Speech Language Pathologist & Audiologist Manaxi Sarmah ‘s highly informative sessions.

Working closely with children on the autism spectrum also means understanding the emotional ecosystem around them—especially the caregivers, who often carry invisible layers of stress, guilt, fatigue, and resilience all at once.

What made this session truly meaningful was the highly interactive and engaged audience—educators who not only listened but reflected, questioned, and shared their own experiences. That level of participation is what transforms a session into a collective learning space.

In the session, we explored:
• The psychological burden and burnout experienced by caregivers
• The role of educators in recognising and responding to caregiver stress
• Practical, real-world strategies to support both the child and the family system
• Building collaborative, compassionate, and inclusive environments

Because when we support caregivers,
We strengthen the child’s entire world.

Grateful to be part of this initiative and to witness such thoughtful engagement towards inclusive education.

An evening of meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and collective strength.

Honoured to be part of the Women’s Day celebration by Nestlé alongside inspiring women healthcare professionals from Guwahati.

From an insightful talk on Nutrition by Dr Jayashree Thakuria to an engaging session on Women’s Mental Health, what truly stood out was the openness in the room—stories of balancing roles, navigating expectations, and still choosing growth, every single day.

There’s something powerful about women coming together—not just as professionals, but as individuals with lived experiences, vulnerability, and resilience.

Grateful for the dialogue, the honesty, and the shared commitment to care—for others, and for ourselves!

Honoured to be a Panelist | Healthcare Summit 2026

Some conversations are not easy—but they are necessary.

I had the privilege of being invited as a panelist at the Healthcare Summit 2026 hosted by News18 Assam North East at Vivanta, Guwahati, where we engaged in a deeply sensitive and thought-provoking discussion on:
“The Right to Die with Dignity: Evolving Jurisprudence and the Necessity of Passive Euthanasia in India and its Practical and Humane Execution.”

Sharing this space with such highly respected and experienced doctors was both humbling and enriching. What stood out most was not just the clinical or legal perspectives—but the human reality behind these decisions.

Behind every such case, there is:
• a family holding on and letting go at the same time,
• a patient whose dignity becomes the central question,
• and professionals navigating the delicate space between care, ethics, and compassion.

As a psychologist, I found it crucial to bring attention to the silent emotional burden—the anticipatory grief, the guilt, the moral dilemmas—that families and caregivers carry, especially in the absence of a living will.

These are not just policy discussions.
These are conversations about life, dignity, suffering, and humane closure.

Grateful to the organizers for creating a platform that allows us to pause, reflect, and engage with such realities with both clinical clarity and human sensitivity.

Two talks. Two venues. One meaningful theme—Women’s Wellbeing.

Honoured to be invited as a Resource Person for the International Women’s Day 2026 Pre-Celebration organised by the Women’s Cell of K.C. Das Commerce College, in association with UNESCO Association Guwahati.

I delivered a session on “Women’s Holistic Health: Move, Empower, Nourish, and Mind Care,” highlighting how physical movement, emotional empowerment, nutritional awareness, and mental health care together shape women’s overall wellbeing.

The day turned out to be especially engaging as I delivered two talks back-to-back at two different venues, interacting with diverse audiences and engaging in thoughtful conversations around women’s health, safety, and empowerment.

Grateful to Moromi Choudhury Goswami Baa for the kind invitation and warm hospitality.

As psychologists, our role extends beyond therapy rooms—it also involves advocacy, awareness, and creating platforms where conversations about women’s health, dignity, and psychological wellbeing can thrive.

Safety is not merely a policy — it is a culture we consciously build.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026 (pre-celebration), I had the privilege of serving as a Resource Person at CRCSRE, GMCH, Guwahati, delivering a session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, under the theme “Give Safety, Get Dignity.”

The theme carries a powerful message: when institutions and individuals give awareness, respect, and accountability, they cultivate environments that naturally return dignity, safety, and trust.

It was a meaningful interaction with students, faculty members, staff, and parents of persons with disabilities, during which we explored not only the legal provisions of the POSH Act but also the deeper psychological dimensions of creating respectful, inclusive, and emotionally safe spaces within institutions.

Safe workplaces and learning environments are not created by legislation alone—they are sustained through everyday choices, collective responsibility, and the courage to uphold dignity for all.

Grateful to Dr. Aziza Karim and the CRCSRE team for the warm invitation and the thoughtful engagement of the participants.

Both my father and my husband are Paediatricians. Yet, interestingly, I had never attended one of their national conferences—just as they’ve rarely been able to attend mine.

This year, I chose to change that.

I attended PEDICON 2026, the National Conference of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) in Kolkata. The timing was personally meaningful—our 14th wedding anniversary coincided with it—and professionally significant, given that Dr Neelam Mohan is serving as President this year.

What stayed with me most was a reaffirmation of something I deeply believe in: child health and mental health cannot function in silos. The developmental, behavioural, emotional, and psychosomatic presentations we encounter today require collaborative, interdisciplinary models of care.

At The MindScape, and in the hospital where I work OFFLINE (Pratiksha-Rainbow Children Hospital), we continue to advocate for integrative pathways between paediatrics and psychology—because early, coordinated intervention changes life trajectories.

Sometimes stepping into each other’s professional spaces expands not only perspective, but purpose.

Grateful for the experience. Sharing a few glimpses from PEDIকON 2026.

Honoured to have been invited by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), a Government of India Enterprise, to serve as a member of the Personal Interview Panel for the recruitment of GETs.

It was a meaningful experience contributing to the behavioural and psychological assessment process—engaging with bright engineering graduates from esteemed institutions and supporting a recruitment framework that values both technical competence and human insight.

Grateful for the trust placed in my professional expertise and for the opportunity to collaborate in strengthening organisational decision-making through psychology.

Yesterday’s LIVE Talk Show focused on a concern every parent, teacher, and caregiver is currently navigating: children, screens, and shrinking playtime.

We discussed how excessive mobile use is not merely a habit issue, but a developmental one. Unstructured play, outdoor sports, and peer interaction are not optional extras in childhood — they are the brain’s natural classroom. Through play, children build attention span, emotional regulation, social intelligence, frustration tolerance, and even academic readiness.

When screens replace movement, imagination, and real-world feedback, development doesn’t stop — it shifts, often toward irritability, low patience, poor sleep, reduced creativity, and weaker coping skills.

The goal is not to demonise technology, but to restore balance:
1) Screens for utility with mindful usage
2) Play for development
3) Interaction for emotional growth

Thanks to the team at North East Live for their concerns and thoughtful questions. Conversations like these help parents and teachers to move from guilt-based parenting to science-informed parenting.

Honoured to conduct a session on “POSH Act and Its Implications” as Keynote Speaker for the National Productivity Council, Government of India.

The focus of the interaction went beyond legal compliance to something deeper—creating truly safe workplaces.

A safe workplace is not only about policies and procedures. It is about psychological safety—an environment where employees feel respected, heard, and protected; where concerns can be voiced without fear, and dignity is upheld at every level.

We discussed how organizations can move from a checklist approach to building cultures that are:

• aware and empathetic
• gender-sensitive
• transparent and fair
• preventive rather than reactive

When psychological safety becomes part of organizational DNA, trust grows, productivity improves, and workplaces become spaces where people can genuinely thrive.

Grateful to NPC for the opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue.
