White Eggs vs. Brown Eggs: Which Is Better for Your Kidneys?
The answer isn’t in the shell.
Many people believe brown eggs are healthier than white eggs, but the truth is that both have almost identical nutritional value. The only real difference is the breed of the hen that lays them.
For kidney health, the focus should be on phosphorus intake, not shell color. While egg whites are an excellent source of high-quality protein, most of the egg’s phosphorus is found in the yolk. For individuals with kidney disease, limiting phosphorus may be important, which is why egg whites are often the preferred choice.
The bottom line? Don’t choose your eggs based on color. Choose them based on your nutritional needs and your healthcare provider’s advice.
