చాలా మంది hearing loss ఉన్నవారికి “hearing aid పెట్టుకుంటే సరిపోతుంది” అని అనుకుంటారు. కానీ నిజానికి అందరికీ ఒకే విధంగా hearing aids ఉపయోగపడవు.
ఈరోజు మా దగ్గరకు వచ్చిన ముగ్గురు patients కూడా ఇప్పటికే చాలా hearing aids try చేశారు. కొందరు 4 నుంచి 10 వరకు devices కూడా మార్చారు. కానీ hearing clarity, speech understanding లో సరైన benefit మాత్రం రాలేదు.
RASYA లో comprehensive evaluation చేసిన తర్వాత, వారికి సాధారణ hearing loss కాకుండా Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD) ఉన్నట్టు గుర్తించాము. ఈ condition లో hearing loss ఉన్నా, ప్రతి ఒక్కరికీ normal hearing aids effective అవుతాయని చెప్పలేము. అందుకే proper testing చాలా ముఖ్యం.
ముగ్గురిలో ఇద్దరికి advanced hearing aids with proper noise reduction technology recommend చేయగా, వారి జీవితాల్లో చాలా మంచి మార్పు వచ్చింది. ఒకరు hearing problem వల్ల interview opportunities miss అయ్యేవారు, ఇప్పుడు confidence తో job చేస్తున్నారు. ఇంకొకరు college classes attend అవ్వడానికి ఇబ్బంది పడేవారు, ఇప్పుడు happy గా college కి వెళ్తున్నారు.
అయితే మరో patient కి hearing aids సరైన benefit ఇవ్వలేదు. ప్రస్తుతం ఆమెకు Cochlear Implant evaluation జరుగుతోంది.
గుర్తుంచుకోండి… hearing loss ఉందని అందరికీ ఒకే solution పనిచేయదు. సరైన diagnosis మరియు proper testing ద్వారానే best treatment option select చేయాలి.
