Dark Neck Is Not Always Dirt — Stop Scrubbing!

🔥 Herpes Zoster (Shingles): Early Treatment Can Prevent Long-Term Complications

Shingles is caused by the reactivation of the Varicella-Zoster Virus, the same virus responsible for chickenpox.

The most important thing to remember is that treatment should ideally begin within 72 hours of the first symptoms.

Treatment may include:✔ Antiviral medications✔ Pain-relieving medicines✔ Topical creams

Delaying treatment can increase the risk of Post-Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN), a condition where severe nerve pain may continue for months or even years.

Shingles is contagious while the blisters are active. Avoid close contact with pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems during this stage.

Adults aged 50 years and above should also discuss the Shingles vaccine with their healthcare provider, as it can reduce the risk of both shingles and long-term nerve pain.

If you experience severe pain and water-filled blisters on one side of your body, consult a dermatologist without delay.
