Every day, thousands of people across India face medical emergencies that require immediate action. A sudden heart attack, choking incident, severe bleeding, road traffic accident, fall from height, fracture, burn injury, snake bite, electric shock, or drowning can occur at any time and in any place. In these situations, the first few minutes are often the most critical. The right first aid given immediately can reduce complications, improve recovery, and, in some cases, save a life before professional medical help arrives.
Unfortunately, many people in India, particularly in rural and underserved communities, have limited access to basic First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and emergency response education. Many emergencies are still managed with myths, unsafe traditional practices, or delayed treatment. Lack of awareness often results in preventable complications, permanent disability, or even loss of life.
At Arogya Bharath Life Support & Safety (ABLSS), an initiative of Arogya Bharath Seva Trust, we believe that life-saving knowledge is not just for healthcare professionalsβit is a skill every citizen should have.

Why First Aid & CPR Awareness Matters
When a person suffers a cardiac arrest, immediate CPR can help maintain blood flow until advanced medical care arrives. A child who is choking may survive if someone nearby knows the correct first aid technique. Proper bleeding control can prevent excessive blood loss, while correct fracture management can reduce the risk of further injury and long-term complications.

Fractures are sometimes managed without proper medical evaluation, increasing the risk of poor healing and long-term disability. Snake bites may be treated with ineffective traditional methods instead of prompt medical attention. Burns are often treated with home remedies that may worsen the injury.
Community education plays a vital role in helping people recognize emergencies, provide safe initial care, and understand when immediate transport to a healthcare facility is essential.
Our goal is not to replace doctors or hospitals but to empower communities with the knowledge to provide appropriate first aid until professional medical assistance is available.
