If your clinical-development strategy begins with a CRO shortlist, you may already be starting too late.
The interesting question is what happened before the shortlist was created.
What did the sponsor know about the asset?
What did the clinical landscape suggest?
Which geographies were genuinely relevant?
Which investigators had demonstrated experience?
What regulatory precedents existed?
And perhaps most importantly:
Was the sponsor choosing a CRO — or simply reacting to a procurement process that had already been defined?
There is a significant difference.
