Trigeminal neuralgia can cause intense, electric shock-like pain in the face. While medication and surgery are common treatment options, selected patients may also be considered for Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS).

SRS uses highly focused radiation to target the affected part of the trigeminal nerve—without a surgical knife.

However, SRS is not suitable for every patient. Proper evaluation by a neurologist and radiation oncology team is essential before choosing this treatment.

Does radiotherapy always require 30 to 40 sessions? Not necessarily.

Modern radiation therapy techniques such as IGRT, SRS and SBRT can allow highly precise treatment in selected cases. Today feels deeply personal and incredibly special.

Seeing my father receive the Padma Shri for his contribution to oncology fills me and my family with immense pride — not just because of the award, but because I have had the privilege of witnessing the man behind it and living it with him every single day, all my life.

To the world, he is a respected oncologist and ray of hope to countless patients and their families. But to me, he has always been my hero, my mentor, and the person I have looked up to all my life and this award makes all of that a reality.

As a son, I could not be prouder,
As an oncologist couldn’t be more inspired.
