Understanding Baby Blocked Nose & Snuffles 👶💨

Is your baby having trouble breathing through their tiny nose? For babies under 6 months, a blocked nose or “snuffles” is quite common due to mucus buildup. While it’s not usually caused by infections, it can make things worse for your little one.

Causes of Snuffles in Babies:

- Viral infections 🦠
- Allergies 🌿
- Dry air 🌬️
- Irritants like smoke 🚬
- Teething discomfort 😣

Home Remedies for Relief:

- Use saline drops to loosen mucus 💧
- Suction gently with a bulb syringe 🍼
- Run a humidifier in the room 🌫️
- Keep them hydrated and offer extra cuddles 💕

If your baby is struggling to feed or breathe, don’t hesitate to consult a doctor.

👶✨ Understanding Blocked Tear Ducts in Newborns✨👁️

Did you know that blocked tear ducts affect about 1 in 5 newborns? It happens when the small tubes that drain tears from your baby’s eyes are blocked, leading to watery eyes and, sometimes, infections. Don’t worry—most cases resolve on their own within a few months! 🙌

💡 Common Causes:

- Congenital Blockage: Tear ducts aren’t fully developed at birth.
- Developmental Issues: Rarely, abnormalities in the eyes or eyelids can cause blockage.

💧 Symptoms to Look For:

- Watery eyes that develop a few weeks after birth.
- Sticky or crusted eyes.
- Mild redness or infection in the tear sac (Dacryocystitis).

🌿 Treatment Options:

- Gentle massage on the tear duct to help it develop.
- Wiping the eyes with sterile water for crusting.
- Antibiotic eye drops for infections.
- If symptoms persist beyond 12 months, an eye specialist may recommend a small procedure.

Your baby’s eye health is important, and early detection can make all the difference! 🩺
