A Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA), often called a “mini-stroke,” happens when blood flow to part of the brain is temporarily interrupted. The symptoms may disappear quickly, but that doesn’t mean they should be ignored.

Sudden weakness or numbness, difficulty speaking, vision changes, or loss of balance can be warning signs that require urgent attention.

Even if the symptoms go away, seek immediate medical care.

Osteoporosis can gradually weaken your bones without obvious symptoms. For many people, a fracture may be the first sign that something is wrong.

Ageing, menopause, family history, low calcium or Vitamin D, and long-term steroid use can increase your risk.

Don’t wait for a fracture to think about your bones. Consult an orthopaedic specialist and understand your bone health.

Being young and athletic doesn’t always rule out heart risk. Sudden cardiac arrest can occur in young athletes, sometimes due to an underlying heart condition that may not have been previously detected.

Warning signs such as chest discomfort during exercise, unexplained fainting, unusual breathlessness, or a racing or irregular heartbeat should never be ignored.
Know the warning signs. Consult a cardiologist for timely evaluation.

Sleep apnea is more than disrupted sleep. Repeated pauses in breathing can lower oxygen levels and affect how rested you feel, while also being associated with serious health concerns if left untreated.

Loud snoring, gasping during sleep, morning headaches, daytime sleepiness, or difficulty concentrating could be signs worth paying attention to.

Don’t dismiss poor sleep as just tiredness. Consult a pulmonologist for the right evaluation.

Your gut has its favourites, and adding more of them to your plate can support better digestive health.

Fibre-rich fruits, vegetables and whole grains help support regular digestion, while fermented foods can contribute to a healthy gut microbiome. A varied, balanced diet can make a difference to how your gut feels and functions every day.

Choose better for your gut. If digestive concerns persist, consult a Gastroenterology specialist.

Many patients are surprised to learn that recovery from a kidney stone procedure may include a temporary ureteral stent.

While it can cause mild discomfort or urinary urgency, it plays an important role in helping the urinary system heal properly after treatment.

If something doesn't feel right during recovery, always check with your urologist.

Chest pain that gets sharper when you lie down and eases when you lean forward over your knees. This is a pattern most people haven't been told to watch for. But it is one of the more distinctive features of pericarditis.

The pericardium is the thin, fluid-filled sac that surrounds the heart. When it becomes inflamed, from viral infection, autoimmune causes, or other triggers, it creates sharp chest pain that is very sensitive to position and breathing.

Unlike cardiac chest pain that tends to radiate and stay constant, pericarditis pain changes with posture. That positional quality is the clue.

It can be treated, but it needs to be recognised first.

The alarm goes off. You put your feet on the floor and the first few steps bring a sharp, stabbing pain in the heel that makes you want to sit right back down.

Then, after a minute or two of walking, it eases. So you carry on with your day, assuming it will resolve.

This pattern, worst at the very first steps of the morning and then improving, is the signature presentation of plantar fasciitis. It is a condition where the thick band of tissue connecting the heel bone to the toes becomes inflamed after hours of rest.

Left unmanaged, it tends to worsen over time and increasingly affects how you move through the day. Addressed early, it responds well to structured, non-surgical care.

Don't let mornings become something you dread.
