Student Induction Programs with a focus on Mental Health and Substance Use Awareness is becoming a necessity these days.

At Manipal University, Jaipur, this program aimed to educate students about the physical, psychological, social, and academic consequences of substance use.

The session introduced students to common forms of substance misuse, associated risks, early warning signs, and the importance of making healthy and informed choices.

It emphasized that seeking help is a sign of strength and encouraged students to approach trusted teachers, counselors, healthcare professionals, or support services when needed.

Interactive discussions and awareness activities helped students develop resilience, peer-support skills, and positive coping strategies. The session promoted a safe, healthy, supportive, and substance-free educational environment.

Grateful to the faculty Manipal University Jaipur for underlining the importance of substance use and mental health awareness among students.

CAMCON, NIMHANS, Opening session 🧠

Honoured to be invited as a faculty in the first national conference of Addiction Medicine by one of the top mental health institutes in world NIMHANS, Bengaluru.

The workshop addressed the practical topics related to starting a Deaddiction centre from the nuts and bolts of it. We had focused group discussions rather than a didactic approach only which was very well appreciated.

I appreciate my colleagues for the workshop Dr Sudheendra, Dr Mahesh, Dr Madhusudan and Dr Divya for a great discussion.

Grateful to my friend Dr Venkata Lakshmi Narasimha and the team at NIMHANS for inviting me.

Always a pleasure to meet Dr Ravi Soni, Geriatric Psychiatrist, Ahmedabad 😊

Psychiatric illness koi attitude ya weakness nahi hoti — yeh brain ke neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine) ke imbalance ki wajah se hoti hai.
Sahi treatment, therapy aur medicines se yeh imbalance theek kiya ja sakta hai.

OCD medicines don’t delete thoughts — they reduce their power.
The problem in OCD isn’t the thought, but the brain’s overactive alarm system.
Medication lowers the intensity, so thoughts come… but don’t demand a reaction.

That’s why medicines work best with CBT or ERP therapy.
They don’t suppress you — they support recovery.
