πŸ‘ΆπŸ›οΈ PILLOWS & NEWBORNS β€” SAFETY COMES FIRST

Many parents wonder whether newborn babies need pillows during sleep. The answer is simple β€” babies below 1 year generally do NOT need pillows.

βœ… The safest sleep position for infants is:
β€’ Sleeping flat on the back
β€’ On a firm mattress
β€’ Without soft pillows, toys, or loose blankets

⚠️ Soft or fluffy pillows can increase the risk of breathing problems and unsafe sleep.

πŸ‘‰ If a pillow is advised by your pediatrician after 6–12 months, choose:
βœ”οΈ Thin & firm pillow
βœ”οΈ Breathable and hypoallergenic material
βœ”οΈ Proper baby-size support

πŸ’‘ Safe sleep habits help protect your baby and support healthy growth.

Cow’s milk harms for infants-
1. Digestive issues like bloating (lactose intolerance) to allergic reactions (hives, anaphylaxis)
2. Nutrient interference (iron deficiency)
3. Cow milk proteins can be harmful to kidneys of infants

Key problems include lactose intolerance, milk allergy, potential iron malabsorption, though benefits like calcium intake exist.

W Sitting - when a child is sitting on their bottom with both knees bent and their legs turned out away from their body.

It is important to recognize when your child is sitting in the W position and to correct it.

If you see your child W Sitting, rather than simply saying, β€œDon’t sit like that!” it is a good idea for you to suggest other ways for them to sit such as:

β€’ Long sitting

β€’ Side sitting

β€’ Round sitting or Criss-Cross or Tailor sitting

β€’ High Sitting on a small bench/chair and support from back

Encourage good sitting posture from beginning for their good physical growth and development.
