Gentle & Natural Ways to Relieve Newborn Constipation

Is your little one feeling fussy and uncomfortable due to constipation? 👶🍼 Before reaching for any medication, try these 3 simple, expert-approved physical habits to naturally stimulate digestion and ease your baby’s discomfort:

⏳ Tummy Time: Laying your baby on their tummy daily helps massage the digestive tract and keeps metabolism active.

🛁 Warm Baths: A soothing warm bath helps relax tense abdominal and belly muscles, making it easier to pass stool.

🚴 Bicycle Legs: Gently moving your baby's legs in a cycling motion physically helps move trapped gas and stool through the intestines.

Simple daily habits can make a massive difference in your baby’s comfort! ❤️

⚠️ Important Note: While these natural steps help with mild discomfort, if your baby's constipation persists, worsens, or becomes a recurrent issue, please do not ignore it. Kindly consult your pediatrician or book an appointment with us for expert clinical guidance.

Small Bite, Big Threat: Let’s End Malaria Together!

Don't ignore the chills, high fever, and headaches. Early detection is the key to recovery.

Prevention is your best medicine. Sleep under treated nets, use repellents, and ensure no water collects around your home.

Malaria is 100% curable with the right medical care. Seek help immediately if symptoms appear.

Today, on World Malaria Day, we stand at a turning point. Under this year’s theme—“Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.”—we are reminded that the tools to eliminate this disease are in our hands.

Malaria is more than just a fever; it is a life-threatening challenge that affects millions, especially our children. As a pediatrician, I see firsthand how prevention can save a lifetime of health. From using bed nets to eliminating stagnant water, every small action counts.

We have the science, we have the vaccines, and we have the drive. Now we can finish the job. Now we must protect our future. 🦟🚫

India is currently facing intense heatwaves, with temperatures soaring beyond 45°C in several regions. Children are especially vulnerable due to their lower heat tolerance and higher risk of dehydration.

This guide highlights:
✔️ Essential prevention strategies (hydration, clothing, timing)
✔️ Early warning signs of heat exhaustion vs heatstroke
✔️ Immediate steps parents must take in emergencies

⚠️ Heatstroke is a medical emergency — recognizing symptoms early can be life-saving.

📌 Save this post for reference & share it to spread awareness.

# # Prevention is the key:
Keeping Children Safe in Extreme Heat
Children and infants are particularly vulnerable to heat-related illnesses because their bodies heat up faster than adults, and they often cannot communicate their discomfort or recognize the need to hydrate.
1. Strategic Hydration
• Infants (under 6 months): Increase the frequency of breastfeeding or formula feeding. Avoid giving water unless specifically advised, as it can disrupt their electrolyte balance.
• Older Children: Encourage frequent sips of water throughout the day, even if they don't feel thirsty.
• Electrolytes: Offer Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), coconut water, or fresh lemon water (nimbu pani) to replenish lost salts. Avoid sugary sodas, caffeinated drinks, and heavy commercial juices, which can worsen dehydration.
2. Environmental & Timing Controls
• Peak Hours: Restrict outdoor play and activities between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM when the sun is strongest.
• Never Leave in Vehicles: Even with the windows cracked, the temperature inside a parked car can reach fatal levels in minutes.
• Cool Indoor Spaces: Keep the house cool using fans, air conditioning, or by keeping curtains drawn during peak sunlight hours.
3. Clothing and Diet
• Dress Lightly: Use loose-fitting, single-layered, light-colored cotton clothing to allow sweat to evaporate.
• Sun Protection: When going outside, use wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses, and pediatric-safe sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) applied 30 minutes before exposure.
• Hydrating Foods: Offer light, frequent meals and incorporate water-rich fruits and vegetables like watermelon, cucumber, oranges, and muskmelon.

# # EXTRA CARE FOR:
• Infants and toddlers
• Children with chronic illnesses
• Overweight children
• Those taking certain medications

# # BE PREPARED
• Check local heatwave alerts
• Keep ORS, water, and cooling supplies ready
• Teach older children about heat safety

# # REMEMBER
Act Fast. Cool Down. Get Help.
It can save a child's life.
