न्यूमोकोकल वैक्सीन की सिफारिश क्रोनिक किडनी रोग (CKD) वाले व्यक्तियों के लिए की जाती है क्योंकि उनमें गंभीर न्यूमोकोकल संक्रमण विकसित होने का जोखिम बढ़ जाता है। सामान्य आबादी की तुलना में CKD रोगियों में आक्रामक न्यूमोकोकल रोग (IPD) विकसित होने का जोखिम काफी अधिक होता है। अधिकांश संगठन यह सलाह देते हैं कि CKD वाले रोगियों, जिनमें डायलिसिस या किडनी प्रत्यारोपण वाले रोगी भी शामिल हैं, को PCV13 (न्यूमोकोकल कंजुगेट वैक्सीन) और PPSV23 (न्यूमोकोकल पॉलीसैकेराइड वैक्सीन) दोनों लगवाने चाहिए।

Pneumococcal vaccines are strongly recommended for individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) due to their increased risk of developing serious pneumococcal infections. CKD patients are at significantly higher risk of developing invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) compared to the general population. Most organizations recommend that patients with CKD, including those on dialysis or with kidney transplants, receive both the PCV13 (pneumococcal conjugate vaccine) and the PPSV23 (pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine).

If left undetected and not treated timely, CKD can progress to kidney failure, leading to severe complications and premature mortality. By 2040, CKD is projected to become the 5th leading cause of years of life lost, highlighting the urgent need for global strategies to combat kidney disease.
