District-Level Inter-Zonal Tournament in Chess, Yoga, Badminton, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Wushu & Football Trials Held at Subash Stadium, Udhampur.
The Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, District Udhampur, today concluded the District-Level Inter-Zonal Tournament for Under-19 Boys & Girls in the disciplines of Chess, Yoga, Badminton, Kabaddi, Table Tennis (TT), Wrestling and Wushu, along with Football Trials, at Subash Stadium, Udhampur.

About 168 participants (51 Boys and 117 Girls) from 09 Zones, representing different schools of the district, participated in the competitions and football trials. The event provided an opportunity for young sportspersons to showcase their sporting abilities and compete at the district level.

The programme was conducted under the patronage and guidance of *Anuradha Gupta, IAS, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, J&K UT, and under the overall supervision of Tasreem Singh, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Udhampur.*

Sh. Dharmveer Singh, DYSSO, District Reasi, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He interacted with the participating players and appreciated their enthusiasm, discipline and sporting spirit. He encouraged the young athletes to maintain regularity in sports and work towards achieving excellence through dedication, discipline and hard work.

The programme commenced with the National Anthem. The participants and officials also took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to promoting a healthy, fit and drug-free society.

The conduct of the district-level competitions and trials is part of the Department’s continued efforts to provide structured sporting opportunities to school-going youth, promote sports at the grassroots level and identify emerging talent for further training and competition.

The Department appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the young athletes and acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the sports staff, officials, coaches and other stakeholders associated with the successful conduct of the event.

DYSS Launches Maiden AIFF Certified Football Referee Course at GCOPE Gbl; DG Anuradha Gupta Spells Out Vision for Sports Excellence*
GANDERBAL JULY 11: Marking a historic leap in sports capacity building and technical expertise, the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS), J&K on Saturday officially rolled out its maiden AIFF (All India Football Federation) Certified Football Referee Course at the Government College of Physical Education (GCOPE), here.
The prestigious four-day certification programme was virtually inaugurated by the Director General, YSS J&K Anuradha Gupta, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The pioneering initiative has brought together 40 meticulously selected Physical Education teachers and officials representing a vibrant mix of both male and female sports professionals from all 20 districts of the Union Territory.
Organized with the direct technical support and expertise of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the intensive course is designed to equip participants with top tier professional training. The comprehensive curriculum delves deep into the latest global Laws of the Game, modern refereeing methodologies, advanced match management, split-second decision-making, elite fitness standards, and hands-on practical officiating skills.
Speaking to the trainees during her virtual address, DG YSS congratulated the batch and highlighted the Department’s strategic focus on empowering grassroots sports educators with national level credentials. Expressing her utmost gratitude to the All India Football Federation for deputing the best resource persons for the hassle-free and effective organisation of the course, she extended special thanks to Nazir Ahmed Bhat, Head of Referees J&K, for his coordinated efforts in making the course possible.
The elite panel of deputed trainers conducting the course includes Rahul Kumar Gupta (Referee's Manager, AIFF), Mohd. Kamil (Referee's Instructor, AIFF), and Umesh Bora (Referee's Instructor, AIFF).
Emphasizing the transformative impact of the initiative, the DG YSS stated, "True sporting excellence on the field is impossible without absolute precision and professionalism behind the whistle. By introducing this AIFF certification course, DYSS is not just training individuals; we are actively engineering a world class football ecosystem in J&K. Our goal is to create a robust, highly qualified pool of homegrown referees who will uphold the highest standards of fair play and take our local competitions to a national benchmark. I urge our physical educators to absorb this knowledge passionately and act as catalysts for the growth of the game in every nook and corner of the Union Territory."
Upon the successful completion of the four-day rigorous module, these 40 officials will step onto the field as certified match officials, ready to lead tournaments with heightened confidence, authority, and modern technical acumen.
The participating officials expressed their profound gratitude to DYSS for bringing such a high caliber national certification to their doorstep. They highly appreciated the visionary leadership and forward-looking approach of the Director General in designing impactful capacity-building initiatives that directly elevate the career graphs of sports professionals in J&K.
The inaugural ceremony at Ganderbal was attended in person by Joint Director Kashmir Mohammad Rashid Kohli, Principal GCOPE Dr. Showkat Hussain; Youth Services and Sports Officer Ganderbal Ghulam Hassan Lone and Nodal Officer Mushtaq Azad, alongside other senior faculty members and officials of the department.

Inter-Zonal Sports Meet Held at Reasi; Nasha Mukht Pledge Administered
The Department of Youth Services & Sports, District Reasi organized an Inter-Zonal Competition at General Zorawar Singh Stadium, Indoor Sports Complex Reasi and the District Youth Services & Sports Office Reasi in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Badminton, Yoga, Chess, Wrestling and Table Tennis for Under-14 and Under-17 Boys.

A total of 202 students participated in the Under-14 category, while 235 students took part in the Under-17 category, thereby taking the overall participation strength to 437 students.

Kumar Abhishek (IAS) Deputy Commissioner Reasi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was accorded a warm welcome by Sh. Dharamveer Singh, DYSSO Reasi, who also briefed the gathering about the various sports events being organised by the department of YSS in the district.

While addressing the participants, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the vital role of sports in the physical, mental and moral development of students. He emphasized that active participation in sports activities helps youth remain disciplined, focused and away from the menace of drug abuse. He further encouraged the students to actively participate in games and sports for leading a healthy and productive life.

On the occasion, a “Nasha Mukht Pledge” was also administered among the participants, officials and staff members to spread awareness against drug abuse and to strengthen the commitment towards building a drug-free society.

BHSS REASI DOMINATES IN INTER SCHOOL ZONE LEVEL U17.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports, Department of Youth Services and Sports Reasi organised Inter-School Zone Level Competitions at General Zorawar Singh Stadium.
The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various schools across the zone, showcasing their talent, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit in different sporting disciplines. The event was conducted under the supervision of the officials of the Department of Youth Services and Sports Reasi with the aim of promoting physical fitness, discipline, and team spirit among the youth.
The participating students displayed remarkable energy and dedication throughout the competitions. The
Tarsem Singh DYSSO Reasi, appreciated the sincere efforts of the field staff and stated that such competitions play a vital role in identifying and nurturing young sporting talent at the grassroots level. He further encouraged students to actively participate in sports activities and uphold the spirit of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmenship.

Udhampur, May 4,2026: The Department of Youth Services and Sports Zone Jib ,launched a thrilling inter-school zonal-level tournament for Under-14 and Under-17 Boys.
The Tournament was kicked off with high-energy competitions in Kabaddi, Cricket, Chess, Table Tennis, Wrestling, and Yoga, all under the expert supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Jib, Smt. Jyoti Rani Gupta. Sh. Suraj Bhan Singh, Manager Sports Council Udhampur, graced the event as Chief Guest.
Zonal Physical Education Officer Jib, alongside the Chief Guest, officially declared the tournament open amid roaring cheers, showering best wishes on the young athletes for outstanding performances and true sportsmanship.

Technical experts, led by Ajit Singh Bandral and Sanjay Sharma (PEMs, ZPEO Office Zone Jib), managed the intense selection process with precision, ensuring fair play while spotlighting rising stars with dazzling cricketing skills, masterful chess strategies, and raw athletic talent.
A total of 495 students from various government and private schools took part in the competition.

Youth Services & Sports Reasi Marks World Health Day with Health Camp
Reasi, April 7:
The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Reasi, celebrated World Health Day by organizing a Health Awareness Programme along with a Free Health Check-up Camp at Government High School, Gran.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Health Department under the guidance of Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K, Ms. Anuradha Gupta (JKAS), and Deputy Director Activities J&K, Ms. Megha Boagia (JKE&S). A team of qualified doctors and paramedical staff provided free medical check-ups, basic health screening, and conducted awareness sessions on healthy lifestyle practices, hygiene, and disease prevention.
The medical team deputed by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Reasi included Dr. Meenali Rajput, Pushp Bharat (Pharmacist), Rajesh Singh (Pharmacist), and Darshna Bhagat (ANM), who rendered their valuable services during the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Tarsem Singh, District Officer, Youth Services and Sports, Reasi, highlighted the importance of health awareness among youth and the general public. He emphasized that good health is the foundation of a productive life and such initiatives play a vital role in promoting preventive healthcare and early diagnosis.
Students, staff, and local residents actively participated in the camp and availed the free medical services.
The Headmaster, Sh. Manjit Singh, expressed his gratitude to the Department of Youth Services and Sports for organizing the health camp at the school.

Pawandeep achieves World Athletics Race Walking Judge Bronze Level certification

JAMMU, Feb 16: In a remarkable milestone for Jammu and Kashmir’s sports ecosystem, Pawandeep, a highly skilled Physical Education Teacher (PET) with the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) J&K—currently deputed as Senior Athletics Coach to the J&K Sports Council—has qualified as a World Athletics Race Walking Judge at the prestigious Bronze Level.

This certification, awarded following a rigorous evaluation conducted by World Athletics, underscores her exceptional expertise in the technical nuances of race walking, a discipline demanding precision, endurance, and unwavering adherence to international standards.

As per the reports over 70 candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 11 have successfully qualified the same

A National Institute of Sports (NIS) diploma holder in athletics, Pawandeep’s achievement now positions her to officiate at elite global events, including World Championships, Asian Championships, and other prestigious international competitions. Her journey reflects not just personal excellence but a profound commitment to elevating athletics in the Union Territory.

Pawandeep has earned widespread acclaim for her pivotal role in nurturing national-level talent from Jammu and Kashmir. Under her guidance, several promising athletes from the region have risen to compete at the highest levels, producing a legacy of “national stuff” that inspires the next generation.

Senior Handball player from Jammu and Kashmir, Jasbir Singh (Jassi) has been selected to participate in the Handball Pro League (HPL) 2026.
South Asia's biggest and India's first-ever professional Handball League for both men and women shall take place at Mankapur Indoor Stadium in Nagpur from February 10 to February 15.
Presently serving with Indian Army, Jasbir shall represent Mumbai Mercenaries Team as main goalkeeper.

Jasbir has been selected considering his performance in the last National tournament.

Meanwhile, International Handball player and India captain, Neeraj Singh complimented Jasbir Singh on his selected in the professional league.
