Children with tactile sensory difficulties may either avoid touch (tactile defensiveness) or constantly seek touch and different textures (tactile seeking). A structured sensory home program can help the child gradually process tactile input and improve participation in daily activities.

Daily Home Routine (30–45 Minutes)

1. Heavy work/deep pressure – 10 minutes.
2. Texture play (slime, sand, rice, pulses, or water) – 15–20 minutes.
3. Fine motor task (sorting, tweezers, cloth clips, beading) – 10 minutes.
4. Calming activity (deep breathing, story time, or quiet music) – 5–10 minutes.

Tips for Parents

* Let the child explore at their own pace—never force contact with a texture.
* Start with preferred textures before introducing less preferred ones.
* Offer praise for small successes.
* Stop the activity if the child becomes distressed, and try again another day with a gentler approach.
* Make sensory play fun rather than goal-oriented.
