🍀This reel is to create awareness about pregnancy and it's myths. Regular antenatal visits with your doctor should not be missed.

Ramzi method theory 🤔

Boy- placenta uterus के right side में implant होता है
✅Important - It's a fun theory for early ultrasound guesses but accuracy is debated . It is not medical diagnosis.

✔️ Baby
✔️ Growth
✔️ Placenta position
✔️ Amniotic fluid
✔ Overall wellbeing

This post is to create awareness about high BP and eclampsia in pregnancy. Regular antenatal visits with your doctor should not be missed

🍀Eclampsia is a serious complication of pregnancy in which a woman with preeclampsia develops seizures (fits) that cannot be explained by another neurological condition.

✅Key Points
Usually occurs after 20 weeks of pregnancy, during labor, or even after delivery (postpartum).

✅Often associated with:
Very high blood pressure
Protein in urine
Severe headache
Blurred vision or flashing lights
Swelling of face and hands
Upper abdominal pain

✅Why is it dangerous?
It can lead to:
Stroke
Placental abruption
Organ failure (kidney, liver)
Fetal distress or stillbirth
Maternal death if not treated promptly

✅Prevention
Regular antenatal check-ups, monitoring blood pressure, and early detection of preeclampsia can significantly reduce the risk of eclampsia.

This post is to create awareness about GDM and macrosomia. Regular antenatal visits with your doctor should not be missed.

🍀Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM)
GDM is diabetes that is first diagnosed during pregnancy. It occurs when pregnancy hormones make the mother's body less responsive to insulin, causing high blood sugar levels.

✅Risks:
High birth weight (macrosomia)
Polyhydramnios
Preeclampsia
Increased chance of cesarean delivery
Neonatal hypoglycemia after birth

🍀Macrosomia
Macrosomia means a baby is larger than normal, usually with a birth weight of ≥ 4,000–4,500 g.

✅Common causes:
Gestational diabetes
Maternal obesity
Excessive weight gain in pregnancy
Post-term pregnancy

✅Complications:
Shoulder dystocia
Birth injuries
Increased cesarean delivery rate
Postpartum hemorrhage

Key point: Poorly controlled GDM is one of the most common causes of fetal macrosomia.

🍀Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR) is a condition in which a baby in the womb is smaller than expected for its gestational age because it is not growing at its normal potential.

✅In short:
Usually diagnosed when the baby's estimated weight is below the 10th percentile for the pregnancy duration.

✅Most commonly caused by placental insufficiency (the placenta is not supplying enough oxygen and nutrients).
Other causes include:
Maternal hypertension/preeclampsia
Anemia or malnutrition
Smoking or substance use
Infections (e.g., TORCH infections)
Chromosomal or structural abnormalities in the fetus

✅How it is diagnosed:
Ultrasound measurements of fetal growth
Amniotic fluid assessment
Doppler studies of blood flow (umbilical artery, MCA, etc.)

✅Why it matters:
FGR increases the risk of:
Stillbirth
Fetal distress during labor
Low birth weight
Neonatal complications

✅Management:
Regular growth scans and Doppler monitoring
Monitoring fetal well-being
Timely delivery when the risks of staying in the womb outweigh the risks of prematurity

✅Remember: Not every small baby has FGR. Some babies are constitutionally small but healthy, whereas FGR implies a baby that is not reaching its growth potential.

Recent evidence suggests that every 6 out of 10 girls are affected with PCOS/PMOS.

✅Vitamin D is an anti-angiogenic vitamin whose deficiency can increase various growth factors which in turn increases proliferation in theca cells of ovaries, thereby increasing the symptoms

✅Studies suggest about 80-85 percent indian females are deficient in vitamin D

Vit D level. Interpretation
< 10 ng/mL. Severe deficiency

< 20 ng/mL. Deficiency

20–29 ng/mL. Insufficiency

30–100 ng/mL. Normal

🍀So girls get your serum vitamin D levels checked and start supplementation, if deficient after consultating your doctor. VITAMIN D supplementation will help to decrease your increased androgen hormone levels, thereby helpful in reducing acne, hirsutism hairfall. Weight gain and regularising periods

A placenta type which has highest risk of bleeding, pph and can be life threatening for mother
🍀 This post is to create awareness about placenta accreta. Regular antenatal visits with your doctor should not be missed!

🚨Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) is a serious pregnancy condition where the placenta abnormally attaches too deeply into the uterine wall and does not separate normally after delivery.

It includes 3 types:
✅Placenta Accreta – placenta attaches too deeply to the uterus
✅Placenta Increta – placenta invades into the uterine muscle
✅Placenta Percreta – placenta grows through the uterus and may involve nearby organs like the bladder

⚠️Risk Factors
Previous cesarean section (risk rises with number of C-sections)
Placenta previa
Previous uterine surgery/curettage
Asherman syndrome or endometrial damage
Advanced maternal age

👉Symptoms
Usually no symptoms before delivery, but may have:
Recurrent painless bleeding in pregnancy
Placenta previa on ultrasound

🚨 Important - if you have Placenta previa and history of previous cesarean or uterine surgery, ask your doctor for this anomaly to be ruled out at 34 weeks scan

🍀NT Scan (Nuchal Translucency Scan)
A special ultrasound done between 11 weeks to 13 weeks + 6 days of pregnancy.
It measures the fluid behind the baby’s neck.
Increased thickness can suggest risk of chromosomal problems like:
Down Syndrome
Trisomy 18
Trisomy 13
Some heart defects
It also checks baby’s growth, heartbeat, nasal bone, and early anatomy.

🍀Dual Marker Test
A blood test usually done along with the NT scan in the first trimester.
It measures two pregnancy hormones/proteins in mother’s blood:
Free β-hCG
PAPP-A

Combined with NT scan and mother’s age, it calculates the risk of chromosomal abnormalities.

✅Why both are done together
NT scan + Dual marker together give better screening accuracy for conditions like Down Syndrome.

👉Important point
These are screening tests, not confirmatory tests.
If the result shows high risk, further tests like NIPT, CVS, or amniocentesis may be advised.

So pregnant Mummas do not miss first trimester appointment with your doctor. Timely tests and reports are important for evaluating baby's well being and to take an informed decision,if reports come out to be high risk or positive for chromosomal anomalies
