National Institute of Health Research, Jodhpur ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur working under ICMR, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India

The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), located in Jodhpur, was originally established on 27 June 1984 as the Desert Medicine Research Centre (DMRC). It was later renamed the National Institute for Implementation Research on Non-Communicable Diseases (NIIRNCD) on 7 December 2019, redesignated as NIHR on 29 April 2026. The Institute houses state-of-the-art facilities for conducting basic

laboratory-based research in microbiology, biochemistry, and vector biology. It is also actively strengthening its capacity and workforce to advance implementation research on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Currently, NIHR comprises a team of dedicated scientists and technical experts, supported by administrative and operational staff. The Institute’s key focus areas include cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, environmental health, nutritional disorders, cancers, injury and trauma, mental health conditions, including substance use disorders, genetic disorders, and other NCDs of public health significance in India. NIHR aims to generate high-impact implementation research across these domains, build capacity through specialized training programmes, and develop effective behaviour change communication strategies to address NCD risk factors. The Institute welcomes collaboration with academic and research institutions, as well as individual researchers committed to advancing public health in alignment with national health priorities.

On 5 August 2026, ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur successfully organized a training programme on the management of common emergencies, burns, and trauma for Medical Officers, Community Health Officers, and ANMs. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Mukti Khetan and Dr. Ramesh Kumar Sangwan, Scientists.

Expert sessions were delivered by faculty from AIIMS Jodhpur—Dr. Vikas Choudhary, Dr. Khina Sharma, and Dr. Anup Sharma—with support from Dr. Vikas Gadwa, BCMO, Sekhala. The training strengthened the capacity of frontline healthcare providers through practical, skill-based learning for early recognition and timely management of emergency and trauma cases.

A two-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training was successfully conducted for our staff at ICMR-NIHR, Jodhpur.

The sessions were led by expert faculty from AIIMS Jodhpur, equipping all participants with essential lifesaving skills - including CPR, proper use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), the Heimlich Maneuver (for choking emergencies), and recognizing early signs of a stroke for timely emergency response.

This initiative reflects our commitment to building a safer, and more prepared workplace.

आज दिनांक 4 अगस्त, 2026 को राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य अनुसंधान संस्थान, जोधपुर को नगर राजभाषा कार्यान्वयन समिति द्वारा उत्कृष्ट राजभाषा कार्यान्वयन के लिए द्वितीय पुरस्कार की शील्ड एवं प्रशस्ति-पत्र प्रदान कर सम्मानित किया गया।

पिछले 22 वर्षों में यह संस्थान को प्राप्त होने वाला दसवाँ राजभाषा पुरस्कार है। इससे पूर्व भी संस्थान को वर्ष 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2012-13, 2015-16, 2017-18 तथा 2022-23 के लिए नगर राजभाषा कार्यान्वयन समिति द्वारा प्रथम अथवा द्वितीय पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया जा चुका है।

यह उपलब्धि संस्थान में राजभाषा हिन्दी के प्रभावी क्रियान्वयन, हिन्दी में अधिकाधिक कार्य करने की सतत प्रतिबद्धता तथा समस्त अधिकारियों एवं कर्मचारियों के सामूहिक प्रयासों का परिणाम है।

इस अवसर पर नगर राजभाषा कार्यान्वयन समिति द्वारा दिनांक 29 जून, 2026 को आयोजित हिन्दी ज्ञान एवं अनुवाद प्रतियोगिता के विजेताओं को भी स्मृति चिन्ह और प्रमाण पत्र देकर सम्मानित किया गया । इस प्रतियोगिता में संस्थान के तकनीकी सहायक श्री मनीष प्रजापति ने तृतीय स्थान प्राप्त किया है।

Strategic action. Better adolescent health.
ICMR-NIHR Jodhpur hosted an Expert Consultation Meeting to discuss the implementation phase of the project, “Optimizing Adolescent Health Services Through Health and Wellness Centres in Sikar, Rajasthan.”
The session brought together key leadership and experts, including Prof. Pankaj Bhardwaj, Director, ICMR-NIHR Jodhpur; Prof. Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS Jodhpur; Prof. Anurag Singh, Head, Department of Pediatrics, S.N. Medical College, Jodhpur; Dr. Akhil Dhanesh Goel, Additional Professor, Department of Community & Family Medicine, AIIMS Jodhpur; and Prof. Kamal Singh Rathore, Head, Department of Sociology.
From reviewing formative research findings to planning the next phase of implementation, the discussion marked an important step toward strengthening accessible, responsive health services for adolescents.

आज, दिनांक 30 जून, 2026 को संस्थान में हिन्दी कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें आकाशवाणी, जोधपुर के कार्यक्रम अधिशासी श्री संजय व्यास को मुख्य वक्ता के रूप में आमंत्रित किया गया।

इस अवसर पर निदेशक महोदय ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि जब हमारी सोच हिन्दी में होती है, तो हिन्दी में लिखने से हमारे विचार अधिक सहज, स्पष्ट और प्रभावी ढंग से अभिव्यक्त होते हैं। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि उत्कृष्टता की ओर अग्रसर होने के लिए हमें अपनी अच्छी परंपराओं और श्रेष्ठ अभ्यासों को कभी नहीं छोड़ना चाहिए।

अपने व्याख्यान में श्री संजय व्यास ने कहा कि नई पीढ़ी से समाज और विश्व को अनेक अपेक्षाएँ हैं। उन्होंने युवाओं से हिन्दी भाषा के प्रति अधिक रुचि विकसित करने, शुद्ध एवं प्रभावशाली हिन्दी बोलने तथा भाषा की बारीकियों को समझने और आत्मसात करने का आग्रह किया।
