Despite being an Economics graduate, I wanted to do something in dermatology, that’s how my journey began. I flew to the US to do a 2-year course in Electrolysis and Cosmetology. My first ever salon was set up in Connaught Place, Delhi. After marriage, I left Delhi and started my second salon in Chennai. The first parlor in Kerala was started at Kochi in 1979. Gradually, a branch was opened in the
navy. I ran it for around 8 years and was handed it over to the navy. I also launched one at the Hotel Monarch in Ooty. The parlor in Mysore, opened about 25 years back along with a multi gymnasium for gents and ladies is still one of the best salons in the city. It was followed by a beauty school in Kochi in 1995 and students from lower strata of the society were taught beautician courses at no cost.Kalpana also started the concept of health clubs in Kerala which functioned over 20 years at Edappally.At Kalpana, we use creams, lotions and other beauty products made by me for our clients exclusively.It is made in such a way that it suits all skin types of our customers.Kalpana is now opening a unisex salon at Marine Drive, Kochi. We offer our services to men, women and kids. With 36 years of expertise, I can assure that we have been successful in satisfying our clients. Kalpana isn’t just a start up parlor. It is the Indian history of health and beauty. If we weren’t successful, we would not have flourished across the seas!
